i'm really impressed. i've been trying to go through all this stuff to figure out how you guys came up with the ideas you all got, and i'm still clueless...
well that is what i get for being without laptop for the majority of the week.

Great work guys...you all deserve trophies once this puzzle is done.

Most of it is just brute forcing, because Tachyon usally doesn't give us any hints as to how to solve any puzzle. So what you basically do is you try and you try and you try and you try until you've got the right answer.

I'm going to try and make it easier for those of you who don't understand by showing how we got "TESTING 1 2 3." I'll use Tiger's pictures, because that's the ring I used. (<3 Tiger)

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
Every number with a 1 above it means: Align the inner 1 with the outer E (0 means skip and put a 0 in the final solution), which you can see in this picture:
Image
Since the first character is 6, look for 6 on the outside ring, and see what it aligns with on the inside. Using the picture, you can see that 6 aligns with 5. So, you write down 5:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 5 0 0 0
Let's go ahead and do all the 1's first since we're already aligned to it. The second one is B so look for B on the outer ring. You'll see that it aligns with 4:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 54 0 0 0
HEX: T
Now we have our first letter in the solution because T is 54 in HEX. Keep filling out the rest of the 1's, and it will end up looking like this:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 54 55 54 94 47 031 032 033
HEX: T T G 1 2 3
Every number with a 2 above it means: Align the inner 2 with the outer E, which you can see in this picture:
Image
The first character with a 2 above it is 3. So, look for 3 on the outer ring, and we can see that it aligns with 4:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 54455 54 94 47 031 032 033
HEX: T E T G 1 2 3
Now we have an E, because E is 45 in HEX. The next number with a 2 above it is 7. So look for 7 on the outside ring and you see that it aligns with 3 on the inner ring:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 54455354 94 47 031 032 033
HEX: T E S T G 1 2 3
Finish aligning and filling out the ones with 2 above it and you'll end up with this:

Code: Select all

Align #: 11211211211211201120112011
Code: 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033
=: 54455354494e47203120322033
HEX: T E S T I N G 1 2 3
Hope that helps!
*Edit: Wrote out how we did the entire solution, and added to the LGPedia:

We improve with time. Like a fine wine, really.

Great explanation shifty! Seriously, I am no good whatsoever with all this code stuff (I think my brain just doesn't work that way). But that finally made it make some sense!!

Some of you may find this web site helpful for creating a pie chart, which you can print and cut out for your cypher ring...

Remember, it's 15 pies.
