0109 "Bree's Dad Is Dead" [1/3/07]

regarding the police scanner stuff:
I think it was just random scanner stuff to represent a 911 call for us. Someone shot a gun in a mall parking lot in broad daylight and didn't use a silencer, so it was LOUD. It was also preceded and followed by screaming, and possibly screeching tires. Also, if anyone was shot, there would be blood on the pavement.
I think some stranger in the area called 911, and we're just supposed to know that so the series seems more realistic.

I felt it was awkward as well but when I saw the last thing " rip.." I figured they must have initially thought that was enough, but then made the title really obvious bc of all the speculation/disbelievin' that goes on in the forums. Just a thought.Perhaps the awkwardness of the title of the video (the blatant use of the word "dead" as opposed to "Bree's dad has passed away," "has been murdered," or "has been shot"), the lack of any clear explanation, and the "RIP Bree's Dad" (which seems kind of silly and simplistic on the surface) as opposed to simply "RIP" or "Rest in peace, FIRST NAME" (because Daniel couldn't include a last name for Bree's privacy) or “with respect” could be an accurate reflection of a young adult's awkward reaction to such devastating news.

Why would they need to fool the Order about Bree's dad's death? There were other people in that car who most people believe are part of the Order. I'm pretty sure the Order would have known if Bree's dad is dead, seeing as they saw the whole thing happen.steamywndr wrote:I don't think the guy is dead. it's a set up--they're getting smart and fooling the order. They have Bree's dad back at Jonases in hiding and will now have to save her mom and themselves from the order. This could be good--we're going to get a lot more info about the order if Bree's dad is with them.
Mysteries:
where is the body? did they leave it in the garage? yeah right.
or the order took it.
why no name for Bree's dad? It IS kinda weird
i agree.spaciegirlreturn wrote:Definitive statements like that sometimes don't go over too well here.
edit- I was talking about this:bethy wrote:Guys, they keep shooting helicopters to mess with you...because you guys keep mentioning it here. The helicopters mean NOTHING......Also...Bree's Dad isn't dead.
i think that the creators are using what is a common occurrence with the helicopters always being overhead, to suggest that the order has them under constant watch. (without having to hire a chopper!)
or at least showing that they "feel" as though they are under surveillance all the time.

I don't think bree's dad is dead either. Maybe they know bree's dad is safe, but want to confuse the order, or maybe they are thinking the worst.
Everything happened really fast and they left him with people who swerved right up on both of them, gunshots following. In a situation like that, they just might think there's no hope. Obviously Bree would never beleive that her father was in with the order and leading her into a trap - so she probably assumed once they got their hands on him they'd kill him - especially with the gunshots and swerving the car.
I also don't think the helicopters are just to mess with us, sure there are helicopters all over LA, but they also are telling us that everyone authority-wise is connected to the order - police and all that. So maybe it's a reminder that the order has an eye on them or at least the tools to keep an eye on them.

Well...one of those is definitive...the helicopters mean nothing. If they ever do..it's because the Creators write it in because you people keep insisting that they do.
And if you'd read, you'd know that my statement about Bree's Dad is my own idea. You don't have to believe it, but that's my supposition. It stinks...and I really don't think he's dead.

hmm i guess what i dont understand is.. we still dont know why the order wants brees family and bree so much do we? what if they were after brees dad the whole time? he has some top secret job. after her dad went and talked to them about getting her out of the ceremony things seemed to go bad very quickly. maybe they bugged daniel and brees rooms to they to get to them to lure in her dad in case they couldnt get to him otherwise?
i also think that if they wanted bree so badly they wouldve at least tried to grab her or something.. but they didnt. are you telling me the order went to capture or kill brees dad and bree and all they sent were two people in one car? that doesnt seem right. the order is EVERYWHERE! im sure they had backup. but they let the kids get away.
but thats only if he really WAS killed or captured. really, i still think his death is all a fake but its a tossup in my mind who is faking what.
as has been speculated, my personal first thought was that bree and her dad set it up so that it looked like he died or was captured by the order, so that the order would leave him alone or at least leave bree alone, but i dont know if that makes sense? but bree is in on it and she knows hes alive.
but maybe the order set it up to make it look like he died? or maybe he is trying to convince bree hes dead for some reason?
i dont know why but i just cant believe he is dead yet. i cant imagine where the plot would go if brees dad was just.. dead.
also, has anyone speculated about where brees mom is and if she has heard this news?
EDIT: if this is a bunch of repeats, im sorry.. i tried to read the whole thread but i think i skipped a couple pages

I was just thinking...people have speculated about Bree's mom being especially important in the Order, perhaps even leading it. What if she was behind this capture? Some have speculated there were two people, a man and a woman. This scenario is just off the top of my head, but what if:anngry wrote:also, has anyone speculated about where brees mom is and if she has heard this news?
- Bree and father arrive, see Bree's mom and other person.
- Bree is unsure, there's discussion.
- Man pulls gun, Bree's dad gets in way.
- Bree starts to run, Bree's dad gets in the middle, takes the bullet.
- Bree's mom tries to help him, lets Bree get away.
Just some idle thoughts...

Gonna go back and read the nine pages, but first I must say that was a letdown.
First I must concede I LOVED the editing....wow, grief must be really get the creative juices flowing for Danny Boy, huh?
But a little dialogue would have gone a long way for those of us who have been waiting not-so-patiently for some details.
edited for a better word than "sucked".

Talk about the people today not having any patience! Simmer down, its a story, an unravelling story. What do you want a monologue to the camera explaining everything up front?
Isn't it really easy to assume that they would've just heard on the radio news of a fatal shooting at a car lot and put 2+2 together?

Maybe the order was holding bree's mom hostage and told bree's dad he had to turn bree over to them to get the mom back. Maybe he thought the ceremony wouldn't be dangerous and it was better to turn bree over than to risk bree's mother's life. Who knows what happened to the mother, but I'm sure that will be an interesting twist for later.
