Sweet! I read the first LOTR book (aren't there three sections?) but never made it all of the way through. The movies were fascinating, though.

Well, technically JRR Tolkien wanted them to be one continuous novel, with the sections, but yes, they are published as three separate novels...you can find the information on Elendi in the Appendices of ROTK, or maybe it was in The Silmarillion (kind of a precursor to LOTR)
