If you do think about it, Bree telling Lucy about the YouTube is not all that far fetched since she said she liked "Having a friend that is a girl" for once and that Lucy was really helping her to understand her situation with the ceremony; also with Daniel. So, she may have offered up some very important info that she shouldn't have.
Are they faking his death?

I do not know this is getting into cloudy territory. It has been discussed before who can see what and i am not sure if it will ever be truly decided. I think the Creators might have said something about trying to make this more clear but who knows... anything at this point is fair game to me i guess...

at the very least Gemma could be reporting back to the order about what she watches on bree's account since we already know she talks to her in the first place. i agree that the order must know about bree's vids. it would seem logical at this point that bree would use this medium as a means of manipulation to fight back and perhaps mislead them.

I am taking it at face value that Bree's dad is dead, people keep offering up the theory that they are faking something to fool the Order.
The v-blogs are for us, not the Order.
The general rule is that another character can see another characters videos when it is convenient to the plot, and cannot when it is inconvenient to the plot. Following that rule the Order can not see this video.

When you apply to a college these days, a lot of them go ferreting around myspace.com, facebook, and other sites like that looking for you to see if you really are who you portray to be.
If colleges bother to do that, it would seem wholeheartedly impossible that something like The Order, which is practically obsessed with her right now, would be totally oblivious to her videos, so I'm pretty certain they know about her. After all... Gemma, that's pretty solid, unless she doesn't really work for the order, but that doesn't seem too likely any more.
And Lucy, who was acting as Bree's Helper and sort of keeping tabs on her, had a computer and even had pictures of Daniel and all that. I'm sure they know, so this could indeed be a ploy to make them think he's dead.
(Of course, there have been times that the creators have seemed to disregard the fact that this is a video blog accessible by millions of people for the sake of the story, so that could be true also. You're right, you guys who posted above about characters being oblivious when it's convenient to the plot)
But it's hard to tell. After all, if they fled when the shots were fired and didn't get a chance to go back and look, how would they know for sure?
Also... if Lucy and the Deacon were the ones who were REALLY dead/kidnapped, I think the Order would have noticed. Especially if they saw the video of the shooting.
I'm not sure. In "Bree's Dad is Dead" the only way we know he's dead is from the title and the "In Memory Of" at the end of the movie. They don't explain how they know, what happened, so it could go either way really... there are a lot of things for and against it being a plot.
Personally, I like to think that he's still alive and it's just some sort of plot because it doesn't seem like them to be so cut and dry, especially at this stage of the plot. Unless this is going to lead to some massive retaliation so it does help develop something else.
I can imagine, after they kill your father, chase you out of your home, stalk you and your friends, steal your money, and pretty much ruin every little piece of normalcy you had... you'd be pretty angry. Maybe with her father murdered, Bree won't be so passive and might seek out ways to actually retaliate instead of sitting by calculating. (It's just a thought. I can't see Bree bursting into a breakfast meeting at the Order with guns strapped to her hips, lol, that's not what I mean.)
So... if he's dead, it could lead up to new plots.
If he's not dead, it COULD be a plot in progress.
Either way, dead or alive... it's at least going to be interesting!

Yes, but we are talking about the Breeniverse not the rational one we actually live in, the Breeniverse is more of a Quantum Mechanical world, remember Bree is a great admirer of Richard Feynman, one of the founders of Quantum Mechanics.je_sais_cequisetrame wrote:When you apply to a college these days, a lot of them go ferreting around myspace.com, facebook, and other sites like that looking for you to see if you really are who you portray to be.

Bree's dad might be like Schrödinger's Cat both dead and alive.
According to quantum theory, after an hour the cat is in a quantum superposition of coexisting alive and dead states. Yet when we look in the box we only see one of the states, not a mixture of them.

Oooooh... I did not take that into account.
Oh my.
Poor little newbie now has to study up on her quantum mechanics too!
You have an interesting point. I can't truly discuss it because I totally forgot about her Feynman reference, and I don't know too much about quantum mechanics (except that this must be the third time I've heard about Schrödinger's Cat in one day, and that's a record) so... I concede defeat, and I'm going to go use wikipedia now to further explore this, hehe.
Thank you.

Hmmm, I thought you might, but then I started thinking it was relevant too, especially after I googled it.
Yeah, you have a good point with Gemma. A complete loss on that one right now. Oh my, oh my... I know there are things I'm supposed to be doing, but damn it, now I'm googling quantum mechanics instead of my english assignment, lol. See what you've done?
Hehe

I'm going to veer grossly off-topic here, but monkeys are infamous for short attentions spans.robtomorrow wrote:I had my tongue firmly planted in my cheek when I wrote the above post, but after posting it I'm thinking it might be more relevant then I thought.
It's even more applicable to Gemmas situation because we haven't looked into the box yet.
Your references to Quantam Mechanics and Schrödinger's Cat are the reason the whole LG thing is still interesting at all to me... It's all about the fans and the discussion to me at this point.
I have learned so much about a variety of topics that I would never have even thought of pursuing. From the beginning, the writers have thrown out tidbits of information that have lead us down these interesting little side streets and avenues of discussion. Many (well most) have been pointless, but we sure did learn something we didn't know about before.
In a sense we are tapping into the Homeschooling ethos, free to discover new ideas unencumbered by structure (like a plot that makes sense
I'm not quite sure I really want to look in Gemma's box though... Sorry, more monkey shenanigans

This is a very interesting theory, and if anyone wants to learn more about Schrodingers Cat, click here:robtomorrow wrote:Yes, but we are talking about the Breeniverse not the rational one we actually live in, the Breeniverse is more of a Quantum Mechanical world, remember Bree is a great admirer of Richard Feynman, one of the founders of Quantum Mechanics.je_sais_cequisetrame wrote:When you apply to a college these days, a lot of them go ferreting around myspace.com, facebook, and other sites like that looking for you to see if you really are who you portray to be.

But as for applying that theory to what is going on, it is half right by the explaination of this line:
Just as Schrodingers Cat was in superposition of coexisting alive and dead states, we are in superposition of coexisting ideas of our theories and uncertainties.So... if he's dead, it could lead up to new plots.
If he's not dead, it COULD be a plot in progress.
