If Bree Dies, and so does Cassie...the last two lines of the sonnet read:

The pulse of the doe-eyed child may cease.
But cassie does not rest in peace.

So if Bree Dies, Cassies will be not be at peace for all eternity?

It's her parents that don't know.

Keep in mind...I reiterate....that it is poetry. Metaphors. Death in a poem often signifies something very different than physically dying. Shakespeare used the term to signify an orgasm or something sexual.

Buuut if her parents don't know, I doubt she would since she's so sheltered. I mean Cassie would. Cassie who might also be Bree. *brain explodes*

UNLESS Cassie used the "good ol' internet" to look up her own religious ceremony.
"Have you ever transcended space and time?"
"Yes. No. Uh, time not space. No. I don't know what you're talking about."

Well, if Bree is in an order that her parents are not part of...then she would have more chance of knowing that her parents would.

The split personality theory is one that we've discussed at length at the Children of Anchor Cove board, Alissa and I started it weeks ago.

I still think it is highly likely to be the case and the use of me and we in this poem starts to confirm that theory. Where the split occurred in history is up for grabs (perhaps it was when she was possibly molested by her science teacher) but who is to say.

I think it has a lot of possibility and would make sense that they were the same girl. After all, we never uncovered the third actress from the casting call, so perhaps they decided to save money and use a single girl and voices for the other role.

It does seem very important to save Bree from the ceremony, however. And while you might have high hopes, please don't be disappointed if you don't get your Hollywood ending. After all, Demi Moore died at the end of the Seventh Sign too, because the needs of the many were more important than the needs of the one.

As for the whole moses thing, if moses supposes his toeses are roses, then moses supposes erroneously. :)

Yikes, you all are quick.

So, I've been in bed with bronchitis for the past few days. I come back to find all this. [Edited: oops, bad grammar: Finally, something that I might be able to help with!] Finally, something with which I might be able to help.
I wish my English class would put this kind of effort into interpreting their poems!

Then you understand my Shakesperian definition of death and dying.

Growing up and only child and moving around quite a bit...I know I used to have an imaginary friend...maybe combined with some disturbing history it became Cassie...another splinter of Bree.

That's my take on it. And the RIP is the suppressing of that splinter.

Okay. I'm in the middle of writing a paper that's due in an hour, so I can't read everything in the post (I know, lame of me!)
But I had something that popped into my head when I heard all the argument over talking in the 3rd person or not. I didn't see it mentioned in the first few pages, so if it has been since then forgive me.

What if the person writing the poem, and the person behind cassieiswatching isn't trying to be Cassie? Have any of the message we've recieved from cassieiswatching been signed "Cassie"?
Look at it this way, what if it's someone who's posing as an avenger for Cassie, who's in the cult, and wants us to know that it could happen again. Who is trying to spread Cassie's message, because Cassie doesn't rest in peace.
Here comes the logic I used for this. (Just a little convoluted from lack of sleep!) This person is trying to tell us what is going on by using first and third person to distance themselves from the Cassie persona. By saying the load is not just theirs to bear, they are saying come bear the load with them, and part of that load is knowing that Cassie (who they refer to in the 3rd person, again, in contrast with the 1st person used earlier in the poem) won't ever be able to be at peace because of what was done?

So, what do we think, could this person not be Cassie?

And please, correct me if I'm wrong and they have explicitly used the name Cassie in their communications to refer to themselves.

Back to my paper!

Hey guys I'm back. I really don't think that Cassie and Bree are the same person. I don't think so for a number or different reasons, the main one being that Bree remembers walking around the track with her and she said Cassie was in Daniel's class. He is trying to act like he doesn't know what happened to her, but he sort of smiles when they talk about it. I think he remembers Cassie. I'm not so sure he's some cannibal murderer though.... maybe he just heard about something aweful that happened to her and he knew Bree must have gotten along with her a little so he doesn't want to say what happened to Cassie.

I would agree that poetry is figurative. Shakespeare and other writers of his time (as well as some contemporary poets) used symbolism in complicated ways. Literal meanings can lead a reader in the wrong direction.

I am going to start at the beginning of this post and read through, so I don't repeat any ideas that other have already discovered/considered

YT Cassie said "im the only cassie" in her profile once...
"Have you ever transcended space and time?"
"Yes. No. Uh, time not space. No. I don't know what you're talking about."
