Trainer posted this about Epogen:
GENERIC NAME: epoetin alfa
BRAND NAME: Epogen, Procrit
DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Epoetin alfa is a man-made, injectable drug for treating anemia. Erythropoietin is a protein that normally is made in the body by the kidney. It causes the bone marrow to produce oxygen-carrying red blood cells. Under normal conditions, when the body senses a decrease in red blood cells or a deficiency in the supply of oxygen, more erythropoietin is produced, and this increases the number of red blood cells. When this natural mechanism is not working, it may become necessary to stimulate the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. The erythropoietin that is used for therapy, called epoetin alfa, is man-made. It is a product of the genetic engineering of ovarian cells of the Chinese hamster and is produced through recombinant DNA technology in bacteria.

ok people i've notied that alot of people are going down the line of bree and Jonas being siblings as a result of the revelation of bree's parents not being her natural parents (my assumption being this i some kind of practice fo the order by placing the 'selected' children in the hands of thir best families)

but my simple question is why do we assume that it must be jonas when i could just as easily be daniel?

the answer to this is i guess that its because we are all so keen to see Bree and Daniel together

or is it just because we have assumed that Jonas is more likely because of the larger age gap between Bree and Jonas (2 years i think as apposed to 1 and a bit with Daniel)

but i have to admit that as soon as i heard her say that they were not her natual parent that i instantly thought of Jonas to

but if bree does in fact have a sibling isnt it possible that it it is infact 'Brother' which kind of makes more sense as both are in the orderand that makes more sense than one in and out as the Jonas theory would suggest
God is not on the side of the big battalions but on the finest shots

Whew! That was quite an answer to supply, especially just out of the blue. "My parents aren't my real parents"

I don't think that this means she is actually related to Daniel, Jonas, Gemma, Brother, Oppy,Tachy, etc. I think it could be indicative that she has some special [genetic?] condition that made her desirable to the Order. Hence, they placed her under the care of her foster 'parents'.

I really don't think her biological parents should be too important to the story, though. I think that the revelation helped distance Bree from her mum, though.

It would be interesting to learn what Bree's father had to say on the subject of her mother. Could they still be married? Would it be a Giver-like scenario where couples are brought together for the sole purpose of raising kids? I can't wait for the next video!

If that was true they either intentionaly gave up Bree or that just doesn't make sense. I'm saying like, How could the mother not know she gave birth to 2 kids. The only way it could be possible if Jonas and Bree were related would be if Jonas was also adopted.
What?! I am completely lost by what you just said!! Why would they have given her up intentionally? Of course she knew she gave birth to two kids? Kids never get kidnapped? Or kids with siblings don't get kidnapped? Is the order really above kidnapping? As to why they could not use Jonas... maybe the ceremony requires a female.

I feel really bad for Bree. I couldn't imagine how it feels to know that your parents aren't your real parents. Especially in Bree's current situation- she has so much coming at her at once.

Yes, I meant that as they never gave up. I know for a fact if my daughter was ever stolen from me... I would search until I found her whether it took 1 year, 5 years or 20 years. I would never give up until she was found.

But I've only heard about girls being chosen for the ceremony. Like, in all of the talk about people being chosen, it's always been girls. These kinds of cult-ish ceremonies and rituals and such usually center around females.

I am really growing to like this Bree and Jonas being siblings theory. As to them not "looking alike"... first of all, they're played by actors who aren't related, so they're not going to JUMP OUT at you as being siblings right away. Second, they obviously grew up differently, lived through different situations and lifestyles, and that has a lot do to with the person you come out to be, physically and mentally and otherwise. Think The Face on the Milk Carton if you've read it.

Here's what I think may have happened. Mr. and Mrs. Jonas had Jonas. Two years later, they had a little girl. The little girl was stolen from them and given to Mr. and Mrs. Bree. OR Mrs. Bree herself stole Bree... and that's why Bree is not wanting to talk to her mother any time soon. Anyhow, while Bree is moving all over, Mr. and Mrs. Jonas disappear.

Bree gets "selected" for the ceremony. Bree goes through the fake ceremony and all in October.

Jonas finds some kind of file or note or something in his parent's office that refers to a daughter that had been stolen. Maybe they had investigated and clues led back to the Order eventually, but the Order had them killed or kidnapped when they got too close.

Bree and Daniel are on the run. Jonas "comes across" Bree online, sees that she's about the same age and is related to this same Order thing. If she's not his sister, she probably at least knows more stuff about what happened to her and his parents. Jonas offers a safe haven.

I don't know if this even works... I didn't get much sleep last night and I dreamed about Jonas so I want him to be important.
I can't help seeing here an element of the Quizatz Haderach in Dune, the multigenerational managing of a bloodline to produce the "expected one." In Dune, too, the final result was supposed to be female. There is a precedent for this in mainstream religions. It's the principle of matriarchy, and its justification is fairly obvious. It's not always obvious if a man's son was actually his biological child, but a woman's daughter is always her biological daughter, unless the local priesthood invents some weird notion of impregnation by an invisible deity.

As for the hamster reference, from the context I'd expect a stuffed animal in the form of a hamster. Or it's some kind of nickname for Bree herself.

I was the original poster mentioning the ten year gap, as part of my skepticicsm about the sibling situation--exactly because of this. My mom loved me and my siblings ferociously from the moment each of us were born, and if anyone had taken any of us, she would have hunted them down from square one. Just as you say.

From square one. If a parent was fighting from the very first day, it would surely not take the Order ten years to deal with that. Surely a parent that was persistant in investigation would be offed before they were allowed to even think about the Order.

I mean, by the time they put the evidence together to even point at who took their kids, they've seen and done too much. I get the feeling the Order is more into preventative measures than relative freedom. I think those parents who made a peep about their missing kids would be dealt with pretty harshly, and fast.

Ten years seems like a lot of slop for a secret organization.

But about Jonas...

On the flip side, we know nothing of Jonas's background. And he says certain things that indicate he knows a lot more than he lets on. I think he was cued into finding Bree by something other than her popularity on YouTube.

--He mentions in his first video he's not good with structure. This reminded me a good bit of Tachyon's messages that kept reiterating "having too much order" in her life.

--The way his pop culture references line up with those in Tachyon messages and puzzles.

--He questioned Daniel about Bree's dad, which is pretty strange--I mean, if he watched all of Bree and Daniel's saga, surely he would trust Daniel to recognize a man he had repeatedly gotten into verbal tiffs with.

I think he either recognized Bree's dad as someone else, or he knows Bree's dad to be someone else. Either that or it's a weirdo coincedence.

--I think it's significant to think about what also might have made Jonas confident that he could give Bree and Daniel a happy home when they were on the run. They were being followed, bugged, rooms ransacked, etc.; unless he has a magic disappearing house in the clouds, I think our options are that his home was a) a trap to walk into, or b) a safe haven for reasons we don't understand, like maybe because he's special.

Maybe the sibling thing pans out, or maybe its a red herring.

Though I refuse to discuss Dune in any way shape or form, I'm glad you commented becuase you're absolutely right and this helped me solidify some things I think I had been abstractly thinking about as well.

Plus...I think a lot of people forget about things like the Cult of Mary in Catholocism which is considered a "mainstream" thing (Catholocism that is). Mary's importance in several different cultures/ groups is equal to or greater than that of Jesus. In our culture, for oh-so-many reasons, I think we're inclined to assume that men are regarded as more important.
Me and my key...same as it ever was.

Hmmm... Hamsters.. don't they run scientific tests on hamsters? Maybe that is the nickname for Bree- the "codename", if you will.

They are usually refered to as 'lab rats' or 'guinea pigs' I don't recall people calling a test animal a 'hamster'. Then again, I'm not great at science.

Does anyone remember the video which she snuck out, (0032 - I'm Going to the Party!) and her father was absolutely furious at her and put her on house arrest for doing so, (0033 - House Arrest)? Those two videos, particularly House Arrest seem more significant now. Her father was furious that she put herself outside and in possible danger of being caught by the Order, or possibly in danger of harming herself before completing the ceremony.

I'm surprised that in a 12-page thread, you're the first one to mention this theory. This possibility occurred to me at about the 3rd or 4th page.

EEVEE wrote:I don't like the idea that Jonas is her brother. I think it's stupid. Even if they were, why would they choose Bree and not him?
Not that I agree with the theory that Jonas is Bree's brother, perhaps the ceremony required a female to play the main role in it? It seems that, since the Creators base the religion of the Order off of aspects of many real world religions, and Crowley has been acknowledged in the series, the religion could be a Goddess-worshipping one.
Jonas is no Bruce Wayne, but he is a mild-mannered millionare with a secret identity.
He's HamsterMan, and his parents' bedroom is really the entrance to the HamsterCave.

The reference to Bruce Wayne and the hamster tags all make sense now!
