a rebel without a cause! bree--> dark side
Assuming the writers want someplace to go with the bree's dad's death debacle, and want to successfully deal with the situation in an interesting way, i propose they make bree rebel out and find her a new bad a$$ guy friend who will make her ignore her problems, and do bad things. it will most definitely bring attention, more viewers, and a big leap for bree development. eventually they can have a jonas/beast intervention and keep making the same old lonelygirl15 vids.

I like this...Daniel and Jonas obviously don't "do it" for her so someone needs to come in and breathe some friggin' life into this "dead fish"!!
LG15 needs more COWBELL!

Hey that's a cool idea. But I don't think we need any new characters.
I think she should make friends with a bada$$ though.. namely TACHYON.
She could work with Tachyon and Brother to fight the Order!

I responded to this in a comment...but I feel I should say it again...
That isn't very Bree-like. She's independent, sure, but that means she won't be depending on a badass boytoy. Plus, she's much smarter than that. [Intellect =/= Maturity]
Also, this series is for social experimentation, not a show using gimmicks to bring in attention. LG15 has gotten enough attention and already has a huge fandom.

That's why I'm saying she should develop a relationship with Tachyon, not some 'boytoy'
Tachyon is super smart and so is Bree. And Tachyon has experience (her sister, supposedly) with the horrors Bree is going through. In fact, I wonder if Tachyon was raised for the ceremony, also.
It wouldn't be that out of character.

i never said she'd depend on a boytoy, i said she'd rebel out, maybe live a little, she finally doesnt have to be good, and listen to her parents. and even if she is independent, it's possible she could get into a self destructive pattern, and possibly blame herself for her father's death, or blame her mother, either way, this i think could be a good direction to maybe play with.Forgotten Purity wrote:I responded to this in a comment...but I feel I should say it again...

Bree already has rebelled from her parents, though. That was the original point of Daniel!cynicalsphinx12 wrote: i never said she'd depend on a boytoy, i said she'd rebel out, maybe live a little, she finally doesnt have to be good, and listen to her parents. and even if she is independent, it's possible she could get into a self destructive pattern, and possibly blame herself for her father's death, or blame her mother, either way, this i think could be a good direction to maybe play with.

But Daniel's not exactly a "rebel" is he? No, we just viewed him as one because he was so rebelious compaired to our little Bree. But, now that we see people like Gemma and Jonas, we start to think, "Wow, Daniel isn't such a hard-ass after all." So, Daniel doesn't exactly fulfill this rebel quota.Forgotten Purity wrote:Bree already has rebelled from her parents, though. This world will never be what I expected.

Sphynx...Does your suggestion reflect your own desire. You picture yourself in that role - No?
Actually, This premise reeks of misogyny and perpetuates the archaic idea that all a girl needs is a good "Shtupping" and she'll be fine.
This really shows how very insidious male domination is in this society. No one - male or female - seems to have noticed the degrading reality behind the suggestion that all Bree needs is some hottie to come in and take her mind off of things for a while.
"Maybe if you put something shiny in front of her she'll shut up."
The more I think about it, the more offensive this thread becomes. And please, there is no need to rationalize the idea. What has been said already speaks volumes. There is no backpeddling or softening of the idea.
Wow

I agree with Forgotten Purity -- adding a badass would completely change the tone and intent of the series.
Although I'm a longtime feminist, I don't have the same reaction Taig does to the suggestion. Instead, I think sphinx's suggestion is more based in an inability to imagine plotlines beyond the old cliches.
Bree's no feminist, and she does seem to be waiting for Someone to come along and rescue her. I hope that the story will eventually show her deciding that she needs to save herself, and taking action. Depending on how that development would take place, it could be believable character development -- or just another cliche. I hope the creators have enough smarts to make it the former rather than the latter.

An interesting disconnect between this society and the Breeniverse seems to be that in the Order's world, the strong ones with the power are women. In fact, if I'm reading the signs correctly, maleness is actually used as a symbol for weakness. I don't think we have to worry about this thing turning into a teenaged soap opera.Taig wrote: This really shows how very insidious male domination is in this society.

Man, it's going to be like those "red kryptonite" Smallville episodes...cynicalsphinx12 wrote:Assuming the writers want someplace to go with the bree's dad's death debacle, and want to successfully deal with the situation in an interesting way, i propose they make bree rebel out and find her a new bad a$$ guy friend who will make her ignore her problems, and do bad things. it will most definitely bring attention, more viewers, and a big leap for bree development. eventually they can have a jonas/beast intervention and keep making the same old lonelygirl15 vids.

I would love to be the bad guy bree falls for, lol but that wasn't the point.Taig wrote:Sphynx...Does your suggestion reflect your own desire. You picture yourself in that role - No?

I was just throwing an idea out there to see what people thought, i wasnt trying to degrade women, the writers have done this enough. No need to take it personal on this forum. If it bothers you so much maybe you should seize wasting your time obsessing over lonelygirl15 vids, and go out in the real world and try changing it. i doubt anyone will listen to your rants though, so good luck.
Someone needs to give you a good "shtupping." jk
Respectfully, I have to disagree with this whole statement. Bree is NOT independent. She was dependent on her parents, then Daniel, then shortly on Jonas, and now on Jonas and Daniel. She's never done anything on her own, except for to commit a couple of felony thefts.Forgotten Purity wrote: ... She's independent, sure, but that means she won't be depending on a badass boytoy. And, no, I don't think she's too smart to get caught up with a bad boy. She wasn't smart enough to question what people were injecting into her, or what was up with the ceremony, or why the Order was stalking Daniel, or a bunch of other things.
And, no, intellect does not equal maturity on any level. For example, Bree might be book smart, but she still carries around stuffed animals and talks to them.
Maybe it's just my recent intense dislike of Bree and her behavior that just couldn't leave this one alone.
Darn it, she was mean to the Beast!
