Actually, This premise reeks of misogyny and perpetuates the archaic idea that all a girl needs is a good "Shtupping" and she'll be fine.

This really shows how very insidious male domination is in this society. No one - male or female - seems to have noticed the degrading reality behind the suggestion that all Bree needs is some hottie to come in and take her mind off of things for a while.

"Maybe if you put something shiny in front of her she'll shut up."

The more I think about it, the more offensive this thread becomes. And please, there is no need to rationalize the idea. What has been said already speaks volumes. There is no backpeddling or softening of the idea.

Wow
I don't think it's an issue of a girl being distracted by a boy. I think it's the idea of a troubled person being distracted by an attractive member of the opposite sex, and I think that would be interesting for this series.

Oh, and they do need to do something to obtain viewers. What good is a social experiment without anybody to experiment on?

sphynx...I only have a minute to attend to you as I have much more important things to do. However, since you are clearly in need of some direction I am happy to oblige.

Your suggestion that I "seize wasting your time obsessing over lonelygirl15 vids, and go out in the real world and try changing it." does not relieve your previous comment from being misogynistic and juvenile.

I am willing to bet that I have spent more time in the "real world" than you have spent out of diapers. I would also venture to say that if your mother saw what you have written she would no doubt take away your computer privledges for at least a week.

You may be right that few would listen to "my rants". That's quite alright since the world has been listening to similar rants from forward thinking men and women for the past 100 years or so.

Trust me. I have not taken your comments personally. First, I am a man; so your disregard for women as equal human beings does not effect my life directly. Nor have I taken your comments seriously, since I am convinced that your opinion is that of a fairly uneducated and inexperienced young man.

I trust that as you gain experience in this world and persue an education (and please do seek that education) you will mature in your outlook and general understanding of people in general.

I induce from your avatar that you identify yourself with a certain style and community. Your small opinion of women is not unusual for those of that socio-economic caste. Fortunately, here in the United States not only are you free to grow beyond those limitations but there are many private and public resources for you to draw upon in while you strive to better yourself. That is, should you choose to.

Good luck to you young "sphynx". I hope to chat with you again; and when we do I look forward to hearing about your journey from where you are now to where I know you can reach.

That was kind of snobby, don't you think?
He wasn't asking for a life lesson, he was suggesting that maybe Bree could get a boyfriend who would do more than play with puppets and get excited over kisses.
If you have much more important things to do, then why are you stopping here to put him down?

what do u think?
Man, it's going to be like those "red kryptonite" Smallville episodes...

But "bad Bree" will wear eyeliner or something.

I swear this is probably the tenth WB refrence I've read on this forum

You are all so WAY off base. Bree is not a feminist, but this does show how insidious male domination can be. The problem is that in the "Order" maleness is seen as a WEAKNESS. The outdated premise that all Bree needs is a good "lay" is nauseating and perpetuates archaic stereotypes.

It is a tired, cliche, old rehash of Shakespeare's misogynistic play "Taming of the Shrew", in which a young girl is given to a man who will "tame" her, that is make her conform by force to male dominated societal rules and become a good wife. In the play, the man who is to tame "Kate" is paid by the brother of a man who wants to date Kate's younger sister, who cannot be given in marriage until Kate is wed first.

Well you can guess how the women-hating Elizabethans would want the play to go, and Shakespeare delivers to their theatrical bloodlust - he delivers up a play in which Kate is forced by the man to change her mind about going to college, he forces her to go to a party where she gets drunk and he holds her hair while she vomits, and then forces himself into her life so by the end of the play she is a Judy Cleever Stratford Wives type drone, serving tea and Scrumpets at her male Master's every Becks and Call!!! PATHETIC!!!

And I fear that LG15 is headed down that horrid path - Daniel will hire Jonas to "tame" her, she will rule the roost of Jonas Mansion with her Shrew-like behavior (which is simply a male, misogynistic label for Bree being an independent woman) until Jonas "tames" her, by the end of LG15 you will see her in a Housedress serving Tea and cooking and cleaning, barefoot and preggers, waiting for her man to come home every day so she can serve his every desire.

Really makes me SICK!

Why is everyone getting so political? :(

Bree DOES need a new guy friend, or at least a new friend. She's building up too many issues with these guys to function properly.
