The "flame wars" I'm attempting to discuss are the flames that are being fueled by the stupid insults liek
"Your a super fan, get a life" "stop stalking the actors," "this is pathetic, this makes no sense," "what are you, a n00b"

those types of comments are harrassing and slanderous and need to stop.

Bethy, I do agree with you that when left to talk it out, this can resolve things, I think if possible should be done via PM instead of on the boards. Especially if in the middle of a drop when some puzzling needs to be done. This last drop was unusual because there are usually several items to discuss, not just a small retrival. It can kind of turn someone away from helping, if in the drop thread there are ten pages of people arguing instead of some serious work. It can also be hard for the person who is running the phone for the drop and trying to get ideas for the retrival, if the posts are not contructive. Realize, that what I am describing is just during drop time. I have seen many a thread go way of base when there is downtime in the game and no one locks it, most everyone goes with it and such.
On a side note, I am not one of those people who will get offened reading 10 pages of rubbish.

I find the forums, just like the world. We are many different personalaties, and all opinions are different, so of course there will be clashing. But during drop time, opinions should be put aside and it should be looked at like a high school science project. You know the one where you had to work in groups, you may not always like your team memebers, but you wanted a good grade right. So you had to work together for the greater good. That is what I look for during drop times. All other times, be yourself and have fun! That is what makes these boards fun.

The unfortuantely thing that I see is that the people who haven't involved themselves taht muc with flame wars, constantly say "take it to PM"

well I have. I try to almosst 100% off the time. And it never gets resolved. If anything it gets worse. And on top of that it moved back into the forum AND people go and share the pms with other people.

PM's really don't help, I know it's the only solution we really have, but they really don't work.

Yeah I see what you are saying KTS. Like I said they really don't bother me, but I am not sure if there is a good solution.
Hey maybe a flame wars heading type room. If the thread gets locked, or someones not involved in the discussion asked that it be moved, we would know where to take it

This way people can still hash it out, possibly minus the personal attacks, but keep the flames out of the on topic posts.

Hell maybe even that would be feeding the flames!

So, I really don't think it's productive to continue a tiff all over the forum...leaking into every possible thread, especially in the complaints section. I have an idea, Taig and CG, make a thread specifically for you two to share barbs...and then the rest of us can easily avoid it.

Well I agree that while I have been a member on many other forums I have NEVER been to one that has been quite so "Wild Wild West" before... HAHAHahahahaha...

I know ALLOT of people who lurk here because they are affraid to post because the overall "Tone" of the forum is a bit intimidating. I happen to agree with the idea that personal attacks are a sign of weakness and should also be considered as flames. Why? They are not productive.. SImple as that...

And to the mods.. Everyone else is tip-toeing but I wont... I think you guys need to take a good look at a few things...

#1 - Not to have any personal agenda. You job as a MOD is simply to make sure everyone is following the forum rules (Are there any forum rules here?

) and also keep the flames and porn away.

#2 - A Unified front usually helps too. When everyone is on the smae page it makes things easier.

#3 - Flaming of forum members in public should be frowned upon if you are a MOD... I'm Just Sayin'...

#4 - Taking sides or being a distinct part of a clique is poor form

OK so I know that all sounds very intimidating and maybe even rude but too bad. I have made no personal attacks. These are AL things I have observed about multiple MOD's here on the forum.

I knwo what you may think... "MOD's are not the people you awnt to angry!"... But really I have no intention of angering them. Perhaps because no one has said anything this is why these things still happen? I have no idea. But I can say I feel confident in this post.

Take it how you want. Crying or bitching or whatever. It is what it is...
