I just don't want for us to boast about finding a "solution" to a puzzle, only to find out later that we had some of it wrong. The fact that it "fits" says doesn't actually say anything about the validity of the solution. It may in fact lead us astray because we are looking for the solution that best fits our notion of what the puzzle ought to be.

well maybe the fact that she rearranged "iamb" in every repetition was an indication that it was ok to use trochee.EmilyElle wrote:Then again... I could be wrong... it's in the first, fifth and sixth... and the fourth is a trochee, which as I said is an inverted iamb, so personally I think that's fine. But disregarding the foot and meter, the lines just seem to fit, especially "not much time for you to train".EmilyElle wrote:If you guys want to take it all apart to make it fit iambic quadrameter that's fine, but I'm leaving this one as it is. This coming from the first person to figure out the whole iambic quadrameter thing... I think it might have just been for the first line, to set us rolling.ubergeek wrote:problems? how about the lack of iambic foot in almost every line? i think the iambs quadrameter is key (because of Cassie's clue). A line with seven beats just isn't going to cut it, I don't think.

"Frank has done more to help than you"

I think we can say we have this so far:
Who:
TELL ME TELL ME | TELL ME THE ANSWER
WHILE YOU BEG IT | GROWS LIKE CANCER.
YOU'RE THE ONE | WITH EVERY CLUE / HERE YOU NOTE | WITH EVERY CLUE
BUT FRANK HAS BEEN | MORE HELP THAN YOU.
UP HERE ABOVE | YOU NEVER LOOK,
SO ON YOUR HEAD | I'LL DROP A BOOK.
What:
divide the lines | half the time*
The evil priest will make the bed
While the victim nods her head.
Once she's bound, too late to quit,
she'll feel his hands, she'll taste his spit.
HABLERA SHEKEL TEL DA DE HUTINS TRINS,
She tried she lied she cried she died.
When:
ELEVEN DAYS UNTIL MY FATE
MEETS ME JUST INSIDE THE GATE
NOT MUCH TIME FOR YOU TO TRAIN
STILL YOU BICKER AND COMPLAIN.
HE'LL TAKE IT WITH A SINGLE PHRASE:
ELEVEN DAYS, ELEVEN DAYS

I'm the one that originally posted the possible Frank Harris connection. This is only my second post, so you'll note that I have avoided making a ton of speculation. However ... in reading that first stanza (the "WHO" one) ... I'm wondering if there is a further tie in with Frank Harris. His "best" novel -- according to Crowley -- was called The Bomb. The imagery of dropping a book is odd -- but less so if that book is called The Bomb. Dropping a bomb is fairly common phrasing and imagery.
No idea what it could mean, but it does strike me as (again) coincidental ... ESPECIALLY considering that Frank Harris' dubious "claim to fame" involved some pretty heavy sex.
