About Ambien,

Heather.. Ambien would get me to sleep, but I'd wake up in the middle of the night, not be able to sleep again, yet not remember what I did while I was awake. CREEPY!!

I used to love the wonderful "sleepy feeling" it created before bed, however. I'm really glad it has helped you!

I'm hoping I'll pass out of sheer exhaustion soon. I've only been up 26 hours lol.

Oh I don't remember what I did while I'm awake on it. I have to unplug the computer so I don't get into trouble. I learned that lesson the hard way with e-bay. Everyday was like Christmas for a while. I never knew what I was getting in mail that day.

WOW!!

I'm sorry, Heather. Is it from anxiety? Or do you just not know?

Just insomnia, from being bi-polar. Such a lovely combination sometime.

Oh wow Heather! I didn't know you were bipolar. I'm glad you felt comfortable sharing that. Of course, none of that is a big deal these days. I'm NOT bipolar. I've never gone on marathons without sleep, or even more than 24 hours, actually. The blend I get of intense anxiety at times and intense depression (recurrent off and on my entire life,) doesn't even qualify me for "bipolar lite" or the Bipolar II diagnosis. Still, since my mood disorder has been severe, I'm on anti-seizure meds to help control it. Also, doctors have been trying to figure out for a long time whether I have a seizure disorder.

My not sleeping is usually anxiety related or autistic perseveration (I am caught up in doing something I love and I stay up all night without noticing!!)

I've got the bi-polar and an anxiety disorder. I'm also on a seizure med to level out my depressions, which are more than the manic phases. That is a total bummer in itself. If I have to be bi-polar, why can't I have more manic phases than depressed phases? LOL

My mother says I've been a night owl all my life though. Go figure.

Anyway, I just thought about adding that I'm on 3 different types of anti-convulsant (anti-seizure) medication. I'm just now at the right level, I think.

I was having black-outs, panic attacks, etc. I was generally happy, but throughout my life, I've had my dips into severe depression. I went on meds last year because of the combo of blackouts and panic, along with neuralgia from my 2nd bout with shingles. This is why I see a neurologist.

Have they tried you on the LidoDerm Patch?

Heather that was cute!

I did LOL over that!!

I have a friend who is bipolar with Asperger's. He seems warm and outgoing, like you'd never know he had AS. I can be the same way, sometimes. Still, when he finally crashes with sleep, it is often for several days. He will tell me he is miserable and depressed between sleeping.

Do you get sad like that when you can finally sleep, or do you level out?

OH.. Heather..

The neuralgia was daily for just a few mins after the shingles passed. When I did have shingles, it was almost 'round the clock and a patch like that would have helped. Instead, I used (and still use) the cayenne pepper cream used for arthritis. But, 1600 mgs of neurontin seems to have eliminated the neuralgia completely!!

Thanks for asking.

I level out most of the time. But when I'm down, all I want to do is sleep and cry, and cry and sleep.

I've heard several of my customers say that the cayenne pepper cream works wonders once the blisters are cleared up.
I had one male customer who got the shingles around his hip, down his buttox, and well up the front. He read about the cayenne pepper cream, but apparently didn't read the part about waiting for the blisters to heal. #-o

The LidoDerm patch does do wonders though. It even helps people with Osteoarthritis.
