I know its really close I'm just grumpy and sleep deprivedPinkoLady wrote:Really though, it's really damn close-- it could be in Daniel's shadow.
There is nothing else that comes nearly as close as The Twin Dilemma-- and I'm almost certain that's the reflection of the street lamp.
Look through here, if you can find something better in any edition of the original 56:

Im gonna go to bed and try again in the morning
I hope this is readable. Here's what I see:
Edit: to be redundant and add book image for comparison.

I see all that too.
There is NOTHING even close to matching that-- I've looked through that website a sickening number of times (it has all the different versions of every cover), it can't possibly be anything in the original 56. It IS The Twin Dilemma.

Hey! That was my lucky assassin hat!
Edited to point out that this theory is the product of my mind at 330 in the morning. At this hour of the day i am not to be held responsible for any outlandish theories that I may come up with.
Edited again to retract said outlandish theory.

Just let me think for a bit.
The colors are a better match with this one, but there is no yellow band at the top.windsong wrote:If you got rid of the two The's in The Secret in the Old attic, the words line up. Maybe they got covered or scratched off, i dont know why the the's wouldnt be there. But it looks like it could work...
But that might be too bright too. Perhaps there are too many shadows altering the image for us to tell what it really is.

I don't think so... there's definitely something where I'm seeing the reflection of the street lamp, that's not there on The Secret in the Old Attic--and there's really no reason why just the two The's would be completely gone...
I looked at that one for a while, initially, but the title just doesn't work.

There's a version with a band that's pretty bright. But it's not called "Secret in Old Attic," and it would be so bizarre if just the The's got scratched off.

OK peoples... not sure why everyone is throwing a fit about that particular edition of The Twin Dilemma being published in 2005... that is the REPRINT year.
It was originally published much earlier... at least 1981, if not earlier.
And I'm certain, too, that it is not any of the the first 56... of all of them, The Hidden Staircase is the closest... at least, comparing them with the physical books.
I don't have The Twin Dilemma. From the pics, I'd have to agree it's a better match then The Hidden Staircase. I'm not 100%... because it does still look a little off, but it's darn close.

Ok, so we have:
7 The Clue In The Diary
19 The Quest of the Missing Map
52 The Secret of the Forgotten City
10 The Password To Larkspur Lane
63 The Twin Dilemma
7 19 52 10 63
Can't see how to apply it to a password. How can we get 2 more numbers to make the 11 X's?
I don't see a phone number either, perhaps there's a 310 area code if we add a 6 before Larkspur Lane... ? Or add 07 to Diary to get 707? Ugh more questions.

I don't know how much this helps, but running with the "where it all started" line, I've been searching through The Secret of the Old Clock.
I've found an interesting piece of information on pg 5. "Her parents were killed in a boat explosion three years ago."
This is referring to Judy, a little girl that Nancy rescued after she'd fallen. This really did start off the whole book, if Judy's parents hadn't died then Edna and Mary (Judy's great aunts and guardians), wouldn't need money from Josiah Crowley's will. It is where it all started.
Now, who in the LG plot do we know who's parents died in a boating accident? BINGO. And think about it. If Jonas's parents hadn't died, he wouldn't have a nice big empty house for Bree and Danial to stay, and Tachyon probably wouldn't have gotten in contact, and things would be a lot different. It's where this part of the story all started.
I don't know how that helps with the PW, but it seemed to be quite a bit coincidence.
Oh, and the will was found in box 148, if that is of any use. :3
