Here is a hint from Oppy from her recent email to Ziola (in email archive thread)
Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere's Fan, 1892, Act III
I think janesalterdstates has something with the tinyurl where she found the star pic. Why is no one looking at that?
Looks like Oppy is quoting:Oppy wrote:We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

but if she already knew why wouldnt she just counteract whatever is in the file instead of giving us clues to solve it?Luminous wrote:She isn't. She's helping her little aphids. She wants them to get to the solution before the tachy's do.iamcool wrote:why would op be helping with a tachy puzzle?

Well, parallax is a common term used by astronomers. I hear it a lot when my husband drags me to his Astronomical society meetings and events. We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
This wouldn't have anything to do with the Curse of Blackmoor Manor game, would it? It is the 11th game...and it has a lot of astronomical details in it....and a LOT of puzzles.

I'm sorry, but I don't have time to read thru this whole thread. But i have an idea....
what if this puzzle isn't really like the xy puzzles that we've had before?
what if the 11 x's simply stand for letters and the 3 y's stand for numbers?
the password could be an 11 letter word that is somehow associated with nancy drew. I think we should wiki nancy drew and come up with a list of associated words / compound words that are 11 letters long.
as for the 3 numbers, i'm not sure yet. but maybe it will be apparent once we figure out the word.
let's try this!

well the problem is, i can't anymore! i met a bunch of people from LG15, (danielbeast and jonas!! i got pictures!) including ARG involved ones, this past weekend at the As One YouTube gathering in san francisco. they said that we often read far too into tiny things and try to convert them into numbers and code, and that we often pick apart everything looking for clues that were meant to be more straightforward. i told them that it was probably because some of the clues are so freaking complicated that we fell like we need to examine everything, lest we miss something crucial, and they agreed.PinkoLady wrote:Ask that firsthand source what the hell he/she is talking about, specifically.theslyestfox wrote:
ok ok ok. i have no suggestions to offer you all but this: i have been told by a firsthand source that very often we read far too into these puzzles and pick them apart and drive ourselves crazy, when really the answer is a lot more straightforward than we think.
that said, i think everyone is doing a fabulous job figuring all this out, as per usual!

You guys haven;t solved this yet!? j/k
So I was wondering why Op would mention the gutter and the stars...
I think She is saying we are on a simple level and everyone is overanlysing this thing... Like it should be simple...
I like the letters and numbers thing I guess...
Do any of ND's books have numbers in them?

I have no clues to offer you... But I know how to download if you're offering!!!
Tachy references stars in her note, not to mention, there is a tiny URL that points to a star pic.itsreallyreal wrote:You guys haven;t solved this yet!? j/k

I will go and capture her note and upload in in this thread if I have to, but I know one of you could do it easier by linking to one that's already posted.
I noticed janesalterdstates made a couple of decisions to get that Xwtaxy tinyurl address to work. She chose to use a capital X, which is not necessarily the case in Tachyon's note, and she decided to omit the T from her signoff.Luminous wrote:I think janesalterdstates has something with the tinyurl where she found the star pic. I tried some variations, and found this xwtay possibility, the lowercase x because that's more standard for a web address and there's no reason to think it must be uppercase, and I chose to omit both lines from the signoff, the xoxox and the T.
http://tinyurl.com/xwtay
resolves to
http://www.webstars2000.com/click4ads/s ... hp?r=24knw
but then it gives a "Server not found" error. Still, it's clearly trying to reach webstars2000... Made me a little bit uneasy but I still think it's coincidence.
