I think it's another road. You can see the other side of it in one of the shots while Daniel is turning around I think.

I'm thinking he could have called someone (perhaps whoever he kept calling while at the house) to pick him up.

I mean logically speaking if that is a river it's tiny, and he could have crossed it anyway.

If it was a road then remember they are out in the middle of no where, there would have been some snow on the road and tire tracks. A road out there would not be completly clear of snow.

Daniel definitely let Jonas go...

you see how he's looking out the window with the camera just before Bree calls him, he probably was doing it as a look out for him to flee before Bree found out. He even said he was gonna let him go at the end of the previous video. He practically pleads Jonas innocence for him... when he said "he's not part of the order, he has nothing to do with your dad or any of that stuff... are you even listening to me?"

he let him go... there's no way Jonas could have cut those plastic tiers.
