Lame.... or ingenious?
Personally, I think it will be more interesting if . . .

You're both right. LilBy is correct that some of the information Gemma gave Bree would be counterproductive to getting Bree to participate in the ceremony no matter what angle Gemma was taking to get Bree's trust. Kasdeja is correct that it makes sense to give some valid info along with some false (we've both said this before).Kasdeja wrote:I've said it before. If you are in a position to gain someone's trust, you start by giving them some truth. For whatever reason, the Order wanted Bree to leave home...wanted her on the run. My guess is that she would get scared and come back. But, you always give a sample of truth, that they can verify...so they trust you.
That said, Kasdeja, I don't think LilyB is necessarily disagreeing with that sentiment. They're just disagreeing with the idea that Gemma could have been doing something useful for the Order by scaring the shit out of her with "Do the ceremony and you and your family will disappear" stories.
I'm thinking the obvious reason for this is, quite simply, that the Creators didn't plan for Gemma to be an Op operative from the start. They make this thing up as they go along, and fan sentiment plays a role. When Jackie could no longer participate in the series full time, and most of the fanbase didn't trust Gemma anyway, it seemed like the easiest move to make.
With the first one, Gemma has been working for OpAphid since at least last February, and tried to kill Brother then. She's definitely bad.LilyB wrote:There seems to be only two ways to explain that:
1. Gemma was caught and coerced or brain-washed into working for the Order and hence the change to her suggesting Bree go home, etc. If this is the case it supports Jonas not being a part of the Order because why would they want them to go running away from an Order member?
OR
2. The Watchers are not actually part of the Order. Her videos were designed to scare Bree away from people the Order did not want her coming into contact with.
As for the second, Tachyon's identified the symbol OpAphid uses as belonging to the Watchers for sure, and the "babysitters" both OpAphid and Tachyon have referred to numerous times sound like Watchers and OpAphid is known to have authority over them.
She is the same girl. Bree expressed quite unambiguously that she definitely remembered Gemma, and, obviously, if Bree was hanging out with this girl's dog, her family was friends with Bree's family (both Bree and Gemma have also referred to their moms as being really good friends).Kasdeja wrote:No, she remembers her dog. She wasn't friends with Gemma. I don't need to revisit the videos. She was friends with her DOG. Remember, when she said the ONLY friend she had there was a DOG and how Gemma introduces herself and says it was HER dog? There was never any indication of her being regarded as a family friend. Bree was a little girl with no friends but a dog. Gemma used that angle to get in. We don't really know for sure that she's the same girl.
Actually, Gemma never told her to leave. She just fed her horror stories and Daniel and Bree made that decision on their own after Bree's parents were taken.Kasdeja wrote:No, they wanted her gone. That's why they had Gemma tell her to leave.

The Order, being a very secretive organization, hides the identity of it's agents. Even the agents don't know the identity of the other agents. So, if Jonas is a member, it is still reasonable that Gemma was unaware.LilyB wrote:It would be much more itneresting for the plot and characters if Jonas is being set up or if his family were against the Order. That would make sense since Gemma's message was for them NOT to go to Jonas. Afterall, if he were a member of the Order wouldn't she have encouraged them to join him.

Or perhaps Gemma knew at that point that she was in danger of having her identity as an Order operative exposed She knew it would bring suspicion onto Jonas if she were supporting him. Saying NOT to go to Jonas was just helping to keep Jonas' cover from being blown is she were exposed.ApotheosisAZ wrote:The Order, being a very secretive organization, hides the identity of it's agents. (Not that I think Jonas is really part of the Order!)
