He's seems happier and healthier in this video...
it's weird because I agree with some of the ideas that people are putting forward that something must have triggered the brainwashed DB to come forward, but at the same time, I think he's happier and more accepting of his future now.
I just do not know what to think with this video. There are two sides this could possibly lean towards. and I'm stuck in the middle with my opinion of it.

Perhaps the last sentence was a hint at impending doom? Mainly to DB?
What ever happened to that girl BA?

I don't mean he's going to hurt himself. Perhaps, its a hint from the Creators towards doom upcoming in the storyline..like DB being kidnapped again or perhaps him being triggered.longlostposter wrote:Well, I certainly overreacted. I don't think he's suicidal. lol

That's what I was thinking (and hoping).nobackspacebutton wrote:ohgollygeedamn wrote:I think Daniel may finally have accepted that Bree just either isn't into him or is too conflicted to get involved right now. If that's true, then she won't be hooking up with anybody. Including Jonas

Definately agree with you there. Maybe that is the purpose of showing us water and a peaceful atmosphere...its showing that in a way, Daniel is at peace within himself. He's expressing to us that he has accepted his current situation and is trying to look to the future for the better.

No, NBSB, that's what I said last night in the video section. I made a damn good case for it too.nobackspacebutton wrote:I don't mean he's going to hurt himself. I think this episode did a REALLY good job of characterization. All guys who are tip-toeing aorund their twenties equate older women to " planning for the future" . It's so cute. We know he's still a teenager and his though process is progressing somewhat healthily.
I'd be annoyed he was discounting Bree ( Daniel and Bree evah!11!one) if it wasn't a fairly mature response to the girl he loves being really emotionally unavailable. I agree with nobackspace.
Although I would like to see Bree enjoy herself with a guy- her life sucks. Fifteen is WAY different than seventeen and hse's going through some already rough transitions without her dad dying and having her extremely controlled enviroment being so horribly dismantled. *tear* But good for beast.

Well, actually, he said that he wasn't going to look to the future and that he was going to live in the here and now.nobackspacebutton wrote:ohgollygeedamn wrote:I think Daniel may finally have accepted that Bree just either isn't into him or is too conflicted to get involved right now. I like your analysis too, BA.nobackspacebutton wrote:Thank you, Kas ^_^ That was just the feeling that I got from the video. Instead of him saying he gave up everything and sounding frustrated, he was just relaxed and for once, optimistic about his new future.
Unfortunately, I think this vid is the precursor to some nasty shizzle going on for our Daniel. It's the calm before the storm.
And can we please get over the " ooh! ooh! X is hooking up with Y! No s/he's not! I hope so! I hope not! " 'shipper threads? They're totally middle school, and they're really getting tiresome.
I don't get it. Why? What do you mean?Widdershin wrote:I think this episode did a REALLY good job of characterization. All guys who are tip-toeing aorund their twenties equate older women to " planning for the future" .

I don't recall anyone saying he should feel guilty.LilyB wrote:Look, Daniel is a horney teenage guy. He thinks lots of women are hot and since he is not taken he is free to comment publicly about it without feeling any guilt.

Guys who are in the transitional 17-22(ish) period and don't have a real plan equate older women with experience as a solid plan for the future. Instead of people they want to be with- they are solutions to their current problem of having no direction of means of going -in- a direction.
Like some man-boys in that age group who are not really in a stable place think successful or even just older women( being with them) is a good plan for the future. I don't know why- because the women made it that far and can "teach" them in a buncha ways. I don't know. I just know it's common for younger guys to see older women as a Dues Ex Machina for the hard work fo their own success and being a grown up. TBut that's generalizing and Beast had grown up quite a bit.
But if Jonas' aunt was a hot contortionist he'd think of a reason they should be together- er a reason for him to learn something from her. Can anyone imagine him saying, "Since this photography thing didn't pan out, and Bree and Jonas are way too much to handle right now the circus looks really great in comparison. I could get some good experience...". Am I being more confusing?
It usually doesn't last long and isn't as annoying a faze as emo I guess- but it's a really common phase. If anyone here is another anime nerd- they probably see it everywhere. It's a really popular fantasy - and I said I thought it was cute so I'm not dissing beast. Unless he doesn't grow out of it soon.
I've noticed ( in general) that when youngish guys with no plan go for older women it is as an escape from adulthood or are under the impression that they'll grow up through osmosis or something.
Which would probably save them all a lot of trouble if they could all just stand next to some strategists and defeat the order I guess?
I just hope nobody gets mad at me or thinks I've got some huge vendetta against guys. o.0;
I'm not taking any offense to the suggestion, but I'm curious as to whether there's any research that indicates this is such a widespread phenomena. Do you know of any?Widdershin wrote:I just hope nobody gets mad at me or thinks I've got some huge vendetta against guys. o.0;
Again, not taking any offense, but it seems like a major generalization that could as easily be applied to women who take an interest in older (for instance, 5 or more years) guys or gals.
In any case, Daniel said that he didn't want to think about planning for the future, and just take life as it comes instead.
