btw, anyone else find it funny how every few pages a girl/woman complains about Alex's makeup (or lack thereof)?

Hell, no. I think I'd be a little weird not to appreciate a fine young man's physique.Joygasm wrote:Do you feel dirty for being attracted to a 19 year old character?
She didn't tell him to shut up. She just said "be quiet," which is a lot less forceful (except when she says it; her tone made it hit like an eighteen-wheeler).chevyfudd wrote:I think when she said "sit down and shut up" He looked like he went into a trance or something.
I hope not. If everybody's in the Order that'll just be too much. It's like having a superhero with cool, unique powers. It really doesn't improve the original when two or three more with the same power show up.joygasm wrote:20 bucks says Daniel's parents are enjoying pizza, ice cream and spin art with Jonas' parents and Bree's mom.

well right next to Alex when she was talking to Daniel in the beginning and Jonas interrupts, is a bouquet of red roses.....hmm....weird
maybe its a coincidence
I know she's evil, but it seems to be a major sticking point:Renegade wrote:btw, anyone else find it funny how every few pages a girl/woman complains about Alex's makeup (or lack thereof)?
His exact phrasing was "she wasn't much older than me at that time." I'd say he meant she wasn't much older than his age when they disappeared (he was 13, I think), especially since it was so similar to Daniel's earlier statement that she isn't much older than them - but we can also infer that she couldn't have been much older than he is right now.HisGirl wrote:Did Jonas say that his aunt was close to age his age, or that she was close to the age he is right now at the time of his parent's funeral? big diff.
Ah, sorry.chevyfudd wrote:I knew she said be quiet, I put shut up because the person before me did and it was fresh in my head, sorry.

Yeah, but at 18 someone could say "Oh, she was still just a kid." when you made an illogical decision. Generally, at least IME, people expect 23 year olds to behave as responsible adults.joygasm wrote:By 18, I was living on my own going to college, working full time and paying bills... that still doesn't mean that every decision I made was logical.AM wrote:longlostposter wrote:I agree, Joy. Wisdom is gain through experience... at the age of 22 most people still make decisions that may not be as logical as someone who is 30 or 40 would have made. I think between the ages of 18-25 you are just getting an introduction to the real world. These are the years that really form who you are and the decisions you make during this time are still very youthful.AM wrote: Much beyond age 22 you can't use youth as an excuse for not doing the right thing any more.
Now if I could just have that 22 year-old body back (Ha ha).
When I was 21 I was a junior in college and still largely dependent on mom and dad. So I could see Jonas saying "She wasn't much older than me".
By22 I was just graduated and looking for my first job so I could see her being that age and Jonas still making that excuse for her.
But by 23 I was already teaching public school full time, had my own apartment and was engaged to be married.
So, I just don't personally believe, when Jonas said that Alex wasn't much older than he is now when his parents disappeared, that he could have meant Alex was over 23 at the time. I am guessing she was 22 tops, which would make her 28 now.
She went to college and did a Junior year semester at sea so I am guessing that she followed a fairly traditional time table of going to college at age 18 and graduating at 22. I would think her parents were footing the bills because semester at sea can be pricey. So I could see her not being in much of positon at all to protest against the order at that time, what with mom and dad signing her checks.
By 23, I assume she was already eating Kraft singles and Wonder bread and trying to make it as a photographer and I assume that by then she was living on her own. If Jonas's parents had disappeared when Alex was already living on her own and paying her own bills I doubt Jonas would have made that excuse for her.
All conjecture on my part really.
Oh, and I am 40 (since you asked).
I distinctly remember him saying she wasn't much older than 19 at the time of his parents disappearance 6 years ago. But she must have been older than 20 because she is older than 26 now. That's why I guessed her age as 28.HisGirl wrote:Did Jonas say that his aunt was close to age his age, or that she was close to the age he is right now at the time of his parent's funeral? big diff.
also, of course Daniel said she was not much older than him, he had the warmandfuzzies for her. the heart wants what it wants, you know?
