Making a Case for Glenn

ziola -- and why can't people make negative plot discussion threads without them being moved to "concerns and complaints"? (it has happened numerous times, though not always.)

seriously though, there is an inherent conflict here in that this board is owned and run by the producers of the show. the creators have been very good overall, i believe but this has always been a conflict from way back. and i don't know the solution.

Why is it that people can make threads in support of Glenn and his work on LG but if someone posts something negative, or starts a thread that isn't all flowers and rainbows, it is locked?

Well I don't know exactly every negative thread that has been locked, but I can say that in many cases these unsupportive threads were not just unsupportive but were filled with rampant speculation about what he could have done and with accusations of him being a pedophile and child pornographer, based on one small incident which has been blown out of proportion. There is no room on the forum for such extreme speculation which appears to have no basis in truth, and the speculation that has been running is why the Creators need to issue some sort of statement now.
Like I said, not necesarily their final definitive one, but if they don't give us some sort of substantive update then it's just a total blunder with the fans (we are "gathering evidence", when they obviously wouldn't be anymore, is a cheap answer and the phrase "as soon as possible" is so subjective...)
We, and Glenn, deserve better.

I've pretty much tried to stay out of all the discussion over this because I feel like if you aren't singing Glenn's praises and demanding answers from the Creators, you are bound to get flamed and I've had such a crappy real life these last few weeks that I'm afraid I'll open hell on someone and then I'll get in serious trouble for it. I don't mind that people support Glenn and the work he's done. What I do mind is that is seems like only the supportive threads are allowed and threads that say they don't support him aren't even permissable here...

I guess I just don't understand why Glenn needs people who don't have all the information to make a case for him. Then again, I'm not praising him or anything of that sort so I guess I should just keep my mouth shut, smile and nod.

Z, i think the main reasons why those threads get deleted are because they produce a lot of speculation and rumors. which then leads to untrue and unfair judgments passed onto glenn.

this thread is meant to praise glenn's work and the effort he's taken to turn around LG15. not to speculate on what he either has or has not done and the extent of each of those. we do believe the creators are doing their best to make amends of the situation, we are merely sharing our interest in glenn's work so that the creators know that despite this, some fans (which may represent a whole larger number that is afraid to post here because they don't want to be flamed) want to let them know that we are behind glenn's work and his ability as a director, writer, editor, and all around main contributor to LG15.

Crux, I understand what you are trying to accomplish here. What I'm trying to say is that the fans who don't appreciate or like his work based purely on that and having nothing to do with all the drama from last week, are also afraid to say anything for fear of being flamed. It just seems a little unfair to me, thats all.

I am responsible for reminding people that this topic was created, as HyeMew clarified, for the purpose of calling for a quick and fair resolution.

Here's my concern: how, other than censorship, is the rule about "only support Glenn in this thread" or "only support the creators in this thread" or "only present xyz position in this thread" to be enforced?

Free and fair discussion of a particular topic, in my view, necessarily includes debate about the pros and cons of that topic.

This issue goes beyond the present circumstances. It's a question about the very nature of this board.

Who, if anyone, made the determination that it was appropriate to demand allegiance to a particular viewpoint in a thread? And was that determination ever debated by the members of the forum?

If I'd been around for that debate, I would have argued strenuously against the idea.

I posted a reminder about remaining on-topic in the thread. Simply put, that is all I did. Remind people to stay on-topic in the thread. HyeMew suggested that he would like to see a quick and fair resolution. Obviously, I would as well.

If you look at the posts made before I added my reminder, you may notice that some of them might be perceived as off-topic.

However, I invite you to present whatever you wish. I will not continue to intervene. I will ask another moderator to review the matter instead.

what this thread is for is to show support for Glenn, and supporting the Creators in their decision.

Any debate/discussion and off shoots of the subject are not on topic, and we've been requested by the head admins (The Creators) to cease all discussion and debating on the subject.

I think we are all suffering from what caused hyemew to start this thread. the matter needs some closure. no one wants this to be the subject of the radio show today.

I can't empasize strongly enough what a bad Idea I think it is to try to pressure the creators to rush into making a public statement. I encourage them to take their time, examine the facts, discuss things thoroughly with Glenn and their advisors, and thoroughly explore all the options before making a public response beyond what they already have, and I am confident this is what they are doing. I seriously doubt the have just swept this under the rug.

As for the show tonight. I hope we can restrain ourselves and have some respect for these guys who are giving their all for us. Let's not pressure them into make bad calls, and harangue them for answers they may not be prepared to provide. These things can sometimes take a very long time to resolve. If they don't address this issue before the show, and choose not to address it during the show, that's their call, and I'm confident it comes out of being closer to the situation and having access to facts that none of us do.

I encourage all LG15 fans to take a deep breath, sit down and just watch the show, or get involved in other aspects of the forum for awhile. There are plenty of other things to keep us busy while the Creators decide how they are going to manage this very unfortunate situation. Let's try to be patient.

Honestly, that's not the impression I'm getting here. I'm see a lot of whining and demands for immediate answers. I'm also seeing these arguments based upon a limited set of information...on both sides. The argument set forth in the first post of this thread suggests that there is "little evidence" of whatever it is there should be evidence.

Again, I remind you of my story of when I was fired. My employers had their priorities...and I apparently assumed the wrong priorities. It's their business, and they had every right to dismiss me...no matter how unfair and ridiculous it may have been.

What I'm saying is that some of you guys who are rallying here have no clue what the Creators want or what their position is. Nor do you have all the information they do. There are plenty of people who have readily admitted a few of the things that were going on...and to many people...those things were unprofessional and unethical. The Creators have clearly announced Glenn is longer on the ARG as a result of what they learned. I think that makes it clear that something Glenn was doing was counter to the Creators' vision and ethics.

I think these rumors about everything are just plain silly. In fact, this thread serves as another vehicle to perpetuate them.

The Creators don't owe us any more explanation and I'm, frankly, disgusted that there are moderators here who are perpetuating this shit. They made their decision, and it seems some of you guys really can't accept that. Glenn's creative role in writing, etc. is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. That's between Glenn and the Creators. Seriously though, I think that making threads such as this only serve to continue the drama. The majority of this forum really doesn't care, as you can plainly see. The simple fact is that not everyone is going to be happy with the outcome, but whining and demanding answers for your own satisfaction will only serve to alienate and anger others and make them less supportive of your "side"

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you. Yes, this is The Creators' show, and we do not know where they want to go with it. However, without fans there would be no LG15 and they have never denied that. They have said over and over that we are to be interactive, and they want us to decide where the story goes. So even though technically yes, it is their decision, I think it's important for them to know that there are many of us out here that love the work that Glenn did, and would be very saddened to see that work cease.
