LG15 Presents: KateModern
Hey everyone,
Just want to let you in on the good news since the press is breaking today. We are launching an LG15 spinoff in the UK! We formed a partnership with Bebo (www.bebo.com) and in July we're launching a completely new storyline featuring new characters that live within the LG15 universe. Think Angel vs. Buffy. It should be a lot of fun, and because we have a budget in advance we're going to be able to do a ton of interactivity and ARGish things. We'll keep you posted as we make our way through the production process. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the link that was posted in that other thread is visible only to those who have registered with The Guardian, which is not something I'm willing to do simply to read one story. So I appreciate the Creators making an official announcement that (1) confirms the news (and is a nice way of signaling that they will continue to communicate with the forum community) and (2) provides another link for information.

Hence the copy and paste of the story below.Languorous Lass wrote:Unfortunately, the link that was posted in that other thread is visible only to those who have registered with The Guardian, which is not something I'm willing to do simply to read one story. Exciting!
I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, but I'm wondering how much involvement you're going to have in this. Will you be writing and directing them, and how? Or will it mostly be handed over to another person who can do it all from the UK?
Will it be in the same vlog style? Will it only in the same LG15 universe or will the 2 stories overlap eachother? Will the start of this girl's story be the end of Bree's?
So many questions! I can't wait.

Maybe good, maybe bad
I hope this doesn't mean that LG gets pushed to the side. It would be great if you could make the stories of Bree and Kate interact with each other. I don't like that the Creators have to answer to a bossman now (it seems to be a British hybrid of MySpace and YouTube), but the bills have to be paid. Maybe we could see some more cameos from noteable actors and artists (like McPhee) and the addition of more interesting locales (like Mexico). The Hollywood Reporter article mentions using Kate to sell stuff to Brits. I really hope this doesn't involve more corny product placement vids (like that gum crap), but I could tolerate some real subtle ads--ya know like American Idol

Thanks everyone! We're really excited! Joanna and the whole team at Bebo are really awesome and completely open to all of our ideas, so it should turn out great. We'll be writing and producing all of the "top level" story development, puzzles, interactivity, etc. and then we'll hire a London based team (writer, director, producer, actors, etc.). I'll be moving out there to run the show for the duration... might direct a little if needed, do revisions, etc. We're working on hiring more people here so that things on Lonelygirl15 continue... and get even better. We're very excited.
