I like this theory a lot - or at least, some variation on it. (Maybe the new girl is a red herring for Bree as much as for us.)
It might resolve some unanswered questions about the ceremony and it would make me feel loads better about the sudden shift in focus from Bree to someone else. I like the idea of Bree taking on a new, proactive role in "the Resistance," but I don't want to see her become a secondary character.
The only problem I can see with your suggestion, Lass, is that I think many of us (or maybe it's just me) would be more offended if they took one of these seemingly innocent girls and killed them off for the ceremony. From what little we've seen of Jules and Taylor, I'd find it worse.
As for Bree, we know she's been an evil bitch for a significant portion of the series, and still has a princess complex. Not that she deserves to die or anything, but if we were deciding based on the merits of personality/character ...

But Tachyon was so... badass. *sniffle* Bree is so... cute.
Bree needs a great theme song... That certainly lent a lot to Tach's kickassness. That should be the next contest (you know, like the t-shirts). To write a theme song for Bree. Then she will be equiped to go out and save all the other little ceremony girls...
"He was killed by the usual cabal: by himself, first of all; by the woman he knew; by the woman he did not know; by the man who granted his inmost wish; and by the inevitable fifth, who was the keeper of his conscience..."
Hmm it seems like an idea although I have to say the impact would be far greater if we actually liked the girl. I felt for Bree when her dad was killed but as he was never really in the story I didn't miss him.
But if it turns out any of these girls are the "new girl" I do hope they are disposed of it as quickly and with as little annoyance to my eyes and ears as possible.

What if A New Girl is being introduced because . . . the girl who does the ceremony must die?
We've certainly done enough speculating about whether the ceremony involves human sacrifice or other horrific/dangerous activities. What if we've been right all along?
And what if the Creatatrons have finally decided to show us the Ceremony we've been waiting for (or at least have one actually take place, whether on- or off-camera), but don't want to kill Bree off?
So they choose a "replacement" for Bree whom the audience will find annoying at best and insufferable at worst. That way, when she dies, viewers will be shocked, but not devastated the way we would be if Bree -- or another character to whom we've given our allegiance -- was killed.
Maybe, but I think it would be a smarter move on their part if they killed off someone we like or feel a connection to. Good storytelling is about evoking emotion from the audience.

That's true. But I suppose they don't want to run the risk of alienating any viewers by killing of their favourite characters.

I didn't watch the X Files after Mulder left...
I could deal if they killed off Bree, quite frankly. But if they touch the boys, I'm out!
(I didn't watch after Mulder, either. What was the point?)

HAHAHAHAhahahahahahahHAHAHAhahahahaha!!!!!
I freaking LOVE your avatar! Funniest thing I've seen ever!
Well both theories can't be true. They wouldn't have Bree swoop in like Tachyon and have her fail and the little girl dies. I think it's clear that Bree's plan is to step in and help whoever the new girl is. So, I guess I don't think they'd kill the new girl off.
