[Suggestion] - Thread Subscriptions

Post by Skunkwaffle »

I've seen this on other message boards.

Basically you have an option somewhere to "view/manage subscribed threads".

Any thread you start/post in is automatically subscribed to, and you can chose to subscribe to any others if you want. There's usually a button at the bottom of the page that says "subscribe" or something to that effect.

The benefit of all of this is that you can keep an eye on all the topics you're interested in without having to run in and out of 7 different forum sections, and all the new threads that keep popping up, won't make the ones you want to read disappear. Plus threads get moved, we all know this is a common occurrence and kudos to the forum mods for keeping things organized. But afterwards you have to go looking for the thread all over again. I know this especially bugs a lot of the comments people.

So if this is in any way possible, I feel that it would really benefit the site, and the users.
Yeah, you got... stuck a fish in the face.

Unfortunately, the forum package that the Creators are using right now in unable to perform that feat. Not a bad idea, though. I could see having two levels of participation as well. That feature could be part of a paid for membership that included ability to upload pictures, pm capability, chatroom privileges, maybe even sigs and avatars. Would it be worth a yearly fee to get added privileges for you?

Go to the thread you would like to follow, in the bottom left corner of the page there is a 'Watch this topic for replies' link. Just click it. :D

I don't think there is a way to do that... but if you don't want to watch a thread anymore, just go to the thread again, there will be a 'Stop watching this topic' link in the same place.

The watch this thread checkmark just clutters up your email client. It's pretty useless. I get what you want, Skunkwaffle (btw did I ever tell you how much I like your user name?) There is another forum application available to the Creators, but I don't think it's feasible to transfer threads, so they can't change over.

:(

Oh well. Guess that's why this is called suggestions, and not "complete site overhaul".

And thanks for the username compliment :smt003 I'm glad you like it.
