I'd think that if a cosmetic company found something that would stop aging, some pharmaceutical company would lobby the FDA to prohibit them from bringing it to market. Probably something eloquent about how cosmetic companies shouldn't be handling anything beneath the skin's surface, how that's best left to pharmaceutical companies that have people's best interests at heart (*gag*), etc.voyboy wrote:I was under the impression that RNA played a part in genetic make up-and everybody wants a product that stops aging.

If Spencer is so brilliant then it's a waste of brain power to work at a cosmetics company making skin cream for teenagers, when he could be discovering how to cure genetic diseases or something like that.TOSG wrote:Yeah, but if there were a reliable away to therapeutically alter RNA, it would have bigger implications than getting rid of wrinkles.voyboy wrote:I was under the impression that RNA played a part in genetic make up-and everybody wants a product that stops aging.TOSG wrote:Nah, it's a valid criticism. I'm not sure exactly what scientists at Neutrogena do, but I think that it's a fair bet that it has nothing to do with ribozymes or RNAi.voyboy wrote:2) Why the hell would a biochemist who specialized in ribozyme research get a job at NEUTROGENA? No sense whatsoever.
Does a doctor open up his own private practice after he finishes med school?
Architects don't graduate and then get hired to design the next Empire State Building do they?
Like, curing practically every disease known to man.
Although, that does remind me of a story about how medical discoveries often are less profitable (and therefore less researched) than cosmetic discoveries. But it's long and off-topic, so I'll refrain.
From one perspective, I see what you mean...Inigo wrote: If Spencer is so brilliant then it's a waste of brain power to work at a cosmetics company making skin cream for teenagers, when he could be discovering how to cure genetic diseases or something like that.
But it could also be a really good cover for a brilliant young scientist who might otherwise come to the malignant attention of The Order.
It could be a way for him to have lab access under the relatively safe umbrella of a big company whilst doing his research.

Prediction:
Spencer does indeed know more than he is letting on. However, he doesn't realize that the Order killed his dad, or that it was over Bree. DJS will figure out that the best way to get to him is by talking about what happened to his dad, and not about "their friend". Spencer will be informed, via audio file, of his dad's last phone call, and will want to vindicate him. Bree will at first be a vehicle to do this, but soon he will be as in love with Bree as the other two boys are ( ).
Also, when he looks at the contents of the trunk, things in it will spark some memories of conversations he had with his dad.
That's as far as I've gotten.
Possible other things:
Spencer owes his early college graduation and cussy job to the Order. He is already working with Bree, but doesn't want that to be public knowledge through blogs. In this case, he could be working for, or against, the Order.
"Spence could meet Bree"? Perhaps they are siblings, and Spencer knows it? Is this one of the things that Bree's dad told Bree? Perhaps the Order used Spencer as the bait to get her in that car.
Yeah, I know, more sibling stuff.
