If you use Vigenere http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/vigenere.php with "decrypt" selected, and enter

passphrase "A new generation of scientific mavericks is not content to merely tinker with life's genetic code. They want to rewrite it from scratch."

with message "T bad uiiiiileog qm apoargmjlj qlkjzvfdz mb nbb vcehjbq yc dhkshf hmiovz oeta npnr'y ciaixlj gzsj. Buhr dewt gw ksnfnhb nh wuha ojfeogy."

here is the result:

"T owh oeveriswat ch ingweneedh elpfindth ej ani torofox fo rdtowh oeveri swat chin'g weneedh elpf. Indt heja ni torofox fo rdto whoever."

So the answer is

To whoever is watching we need help. Find the janitor of oxford.

Anyone have ideas on how to find the janitor from episode 008?

Left the clues, goldengate bridge / San Francisco.
And the impossible code, which was just a joke.

teamwork... you and Deagol put me on the right track with "Vigenere" and your start on the decode... then I just looked for the text that was starting to appear in the article.

So now, it's up to others to look for the Janitor of Oxford - I'm off the job for the nonce...

LOL voyboy, the plaintext was the subtitle of the Newsweek article. From there we use the nifty vignere decoder to obtain the key. Just following the instructions: "newsweek, life 2.0, find the key."

Now we just gotta find that janitor... :-s

VB, I'm with you. I watch the purty videos and then go sit in the corner and watch these guys be geniuses and applaud lots...and offer to bake cookies now and again, so I can be appreciated, too!
Diane, or cher, or even chershaytoute, but "Hey, you!" works, too...

WWggD - let's make the Breeniverse a better place to live...

I wrote some observations over on the 008 video thread ... there seems to be a series of places in london leading to an elevator, so maybe someone from London could figure that out. http://lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic ... 464#431464

Other than that, I googled Janitor of Oxford and looked at the Cambridge Oxford site ... found some references to Library Janitors, but nothing that seemed likely.

I also tried some anagramming without any results.

So whatever the clue is, we are missing it and need more info.
