[CORRESPONDENCE] Professor Arscott
Moderator: Moderators
So the poor girl just wants to pass her class. I think we all need to cut her some slack. She doesn't have the same drive to solve Maddy's murder that we have. But maybe, in helping her out, we will learn more about what we need to know.
So here goes.
Clara - what do you need to do to satisfy your advisor so you can get the credit you need, and what specifically can we do to help you?

Clara - any news on your thesis focus? We were going to go through some more specific topics. No news from your prof on that right?
As for everything that's going on here - I'll say that contacting the professor was mentioned last night, and I'll definitely admit that the sent letter is not what I had in mind for sending.
But now it is done, what's done is...well...done.
Let me know if you need help with that thesis. I think perhaps if you talk to your advisor he'll have some good suggestions - if he comes back with nothing, then we'll go over some ways to present him with a pitch for a new thesis subject.
Sounds good? Woo! School. I'm dripping with sarcasm.

Clara,
I agree it was presumptuous of Phipunk to sent that letter to your advisor, we are not a homogeneous group here, no one is the spokesperson for us all.
I do understand the frustration of many here, you said in chat the other night that you are not particularly interested in the motive for the killings. In this case I think I can speak for all, even if I am not the spokesperson for the group, that the one thing we are all interested in it the motive. We want to know why this happened. If you want cooperation from us here at the forum for your thesis then you have to understand that and cooperate with us in helping us understand why these murders happened.

OK back.
I want some credit. As best as I can I'm taking this seriously.
I'm shooting interviews. I'm posting them so you can see them. Eventually, I'll probably include you all in the project.
I may not know what I'm doing, and I don't think I can be blamed for not understanding this story . . . as you all tell it. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't. Right?
I know it doesn't help that I blink into stare-mode when I read through these forums. I don't know who any of you are. I don't understand any of the back story. I've gone through the summary thread 900 times in this forum. I do that thing when you read the same sentence over and over again.
I can't get my head around it. I can't. I'm sorry. It's too much.
And I don't even want to start looking into the warpylol video or the explanations of Frady's pidgeon interactions.
I'm sorry. I don't get it, and I don't like it that you contacted my professor. So what. I'm not being a bitch. I think - you in my position would react similarly.
I'm really sorry. This situation is stressful for all of us, and I don't mean to pile any more pressure on you than you already have.
I think you may have misinterpreted my question by focusing on the second sentence (about interview style), which was really only meant to support the first (about his motivation for choosing you for this project).
You have said several times that this is just something to do so you can graduate. I (and if I may be so bold, we) care a lot about what happened to Maddison, and it would seem that Prof. Arscott does too. As such, I wanted to make a connection with him. It would seem that you would have preferred that communication to have gone through you. Since you seemed overwhelmed, I thought it better not to bother you with it, and instead contact him directly. This was an error in judgment, one that I hope you can understand.
I wasn't "tattling". As you noted, you'll be showing him the footage this week, and he'll draw his own conclusions. I hardly think that a luminary like him will have his assessment clouded by some idle comment from the likes of me. My description of your style (which was, if anything, somewhat understated) was included simply to provide some context for my question.
As krmurr87 noted above, I'm not the first person to wonder about this.
Warm regards, and stay safe,
Philip

Last night in chat, you guys said you'd help with my thesis in some other room. Thanks for doing that, but I'm not comfortable in the chat room. It moves too fast for me, and I don't type very fast or well under that kind of pressure.
I could use the help focusing my thesis, listing out my questions, and anything else you can think of.
I'd also like to better understand the story in between Madison's videos. I'm trying to grunt through the forum posts, but they are confusing. I can't see how you all keep track of it. I guess you had to live through it to really know.
Tracing her steps is a complete direction change, so I'd need a LOT of help from you all if that's where you feel I should go.
I need to think about it some more.

I'm here to help if I can.
May I suggest that what is being overlooked are indeed the motives, as robtommorow suggests.
Maddy's motive: a sincere desire to help. Adam's was the same.
Zipp's motive: concern for his child.
Clara, you need to focus on Zipp's original motive. He wasn't selfish in his motivation, neither were Maddy or Adam. We are selfish like you are, and that is why we seem to be butting heads here.
