Hello, Clara.
I'll step up as an elder here to take that off of other folks' shoulders.
I'm Diane or cher. I have kids in college...and grandchildren. Grandchildren! And me still a young thing (until I look in the mirror...or listen to my son tell me anything <shaking head>) I've worked with online communities for about 20 years, but these days, I hang out around here... I volunteer on this forum and have found some good and lasting friends.
When Maddy came here, she reminded me so much of my own daughter and her spirit in life. Clara, you remind me a bit of how my son approaches things at school - he's not a reader either. <rueful grin> I do understand that glazed over look, honest!
If you ever just need someone to help interpret the ohmigosh, where'd all this come from, you're welcome to holler my way in PMs. Plus, well, I'm a mom. I actually do bake cookies, kiddo.

Hi Clara,
My name is Philip. I've lived in Northern California for most of my life, long enough to consider myself a native. I just celebrated my second wedding anniversary. I work in high-performance computing as a research scientist, although my education was in mathematics. I also have a pretty extensive music background, but I haven't kept in practice recently. The first time I took the OKCupid test I was deemed "The Slow Dancer", but a year later I retook it and turned up as "The Gentleman".
This is quite a task you took on. You get a lot of respect from me for agreeing to do that.

Hi Clara,
I'm Alan, aged 40, in Chicago IL, from Glasgow in Scotland originally. I'm a computer/network security researcher, and helped with some of the cryptanalysis of Zipp's coded messages.
Good luck with your thesis!
