One thing I'm glad for is the apparent certainty that Bree's mom is not a bad guy. That was one speculation after Gemma said the Breemom was a "pillar in the community."

On the other hand, maybe mom's acting, and is manipulating Bree into virgin sacrifice!

You're right, it is predictable, but it needed to happen. If it didn't, we'd all be complaining that it was weird that she got out of it so easily. At least this will lead to some conflict!

I noticed the backpack too, it seemed weird, but she wouldn't run away with her stuffed friends, who were not packed and all still on the bed.
