I spend Thanksgiving drinking heavily at my family's house so that when I go to the inlaws, my mother-in-laws crappy comments don't affect me.
On Christmas, we head to my parents house. My dad still cooks breakfast for all of us, my grandparents fly in from Florida for the holiday and stay there and it is just one huge, disorganized, fantastic time!!
On New Years, I stay home with my kids. We have a rule that we can only eat food with out fingers that night, so we picnic in the living room and watch a bazillion movies. My hubby usually gets home just in time to watch the ball drop. (and then the big kid party starts )

It's official!! I'm getting married September 28, 2007!!
oooo yes! The uniform is entirely too hawt... and you are exactly right about the Marines! RAWR! Being married to a police officer definitely has its advantages. But I don't think of it as 'using' him to my advantage. Oh yes, they do overlook the illegal activities of their loved-ones. And we never go to the police dept's Christmas Balls anymore. Too many idiots there. Everything I did while we were dating when I was out w/friends, etc. was overlooked. Yeah, he wasn't real happy w/ my little 'activities,' but he was mad kewl about it! TY for the compliment, you seem pretty damn cool yourself. Seriously, if you can find a good one, try dating for a bit & see how you like it. Before hubby was transfered to detective, the most difficult thing I had to adjust to was his horrific hours, which were ever-changing. Other than that, I loved every min of it and I'd do it all over again!

I don't even know where I would ever meet a cop. I'm happy for you, but I think I'd be too paranoid to ever date one....it would be scandalous.
Here is a thought for the day: NURSES: I admire your profession. It's very noble and you'll probably never find me doing it....but for the love of god, when a patient rings the nurses station and tells you they need to go to the bathroom and need your help, could you get to the room in under 30 minutes?? Damn. My family member is in the hospital right now, so I've spent a lot of time there the last few days. I hate the hospital. I know the nurses work hard and they're very busy..so it's normal to have to wait for a while when you need something because they have to prioritize and everything...but when you have to go potty, geez..come on!
OK.
Cops...check
nurses...check
maybe I'll do teachers next
