Ceremony for Bree or the Deacons?

Post by stealtheshow »

Am I missing something, or like, haven't picked up on something..
I thought the ceremony, was for Bree's benefit?! But in this latest video, she says that the Deacons said they didn't have time to prepare someone else?

The creators also said that this was getting too dark for their liking, so then we see a new Proving science wrong, and Bree back to her usual self..
What does everyone think? What Key role does Bree actually have in the ceremony? And is the Ceremony for her Benefit or the communities?

I don't think she ever said the ceremony was for her benefit...just that she was chosen to take part in a ceremony that doesn't happen very often and is a very big deal.

Some have suggested (myself included) that it might be some type of "initiation" ceremony, which would lead one to think it was for Bree's benefit. Kinda like a Catholic confirmation or Jewish bar mitzvah.

Of course, such an initiation could also be for the religion's benefit, as they would now have a new "whatever" in the faith... hard to say really...

I think BK is right.

This could be an initiation. However, isn't Crowley's religion REALLY sexual and stuff. This leaves us asking: What type of initiation, really?

I know about the speculations, lol. I'm just saying, it's never been said in the videos...so anything else is that, speculation and not fact...or at least, not yet a fact.

I don't think this is the case, because it only happens once in a "really long time." I'd think initiations would be occurring quite often in a religion that appears to span the globe.

Basically, I think the ceremony has always been about the order, not about Bree.

And also, how much is this based on Crowley's religion and Thelema, and how much of it is something else entirely? :)

I think they reference AC for the interest value, but I don't think it's Thelema. I don't really think it's a REAL religion at all, honestly. With a fictional religion you have much more 'artistic freedom', etc.

That does appear to be the way things are going, I agree. However, until recently, I thought that perhaps it would be more of an initiation or something about Bree. The idea of doing steps and speaking a certain language seems similar to many coming-of-age ceremonies. And the tags on the video that first mentioned the ceremony were all initiation related (bar mitzvah, etc.). Of course, we have since learned that Bree doesn't know much of anything about it.

Keep in mind, though, that an initation ceremony could be a lot of things. Perhaps every so many years they need a new person to fill a role, and Bree was chosen. (Sorta like finding a new holy man or the resurrection of a holy man in a past life.) Or maybe the order only contains so many people, and when one leaves (dies?) they fill it with someone new.

All pure speculation, of course. :)

Agreed.

Thelema is a red herring!

Hadn't really considered that. But then, it would still be more about the order than about Bree.

I think that since they don't care if she wants to or not...it's more about the religion than about her. Just my opinion.

Red herring or not, there is still a photo of Aliester Crowley in her bedroom with a candelabra before it (that Daniel was not allowed to light). So even if it's a made up religion, it still most likely has SOMETHING to do with Aliester Crowley.

And as another user said, his religion was extremely sexual. His rituals had homosexual acts, heterosexual acts, and tabooness was his forte. I thought I read that he believed (as do other cults) that sexual orgasm is a way of attaining enlightenment? I think I found this on wikipedia...maybe one of you can clarify for me.

Okay, young "16" year old girl...in perhaps what is a sex cult? Getting shots? Please tell me they aren't birth-control shots! I don't think the creators will let it go that far!

I don't care if it's fake...I still love it.
