Pissing me off royally today are quotes like this:
Once again, I want to point out that grievances about the videos are just as valid as praise. And what's with the number 10? Are there only so many comments allowed now per person or per subject? This is stupid. It's not like someone spammed the board with posts saying "This sucks." "This sucks." "This sucks."...etc. If you don't want to hear (read) critiques and complaints, don't join a forum...and for the love of god, if you think negative posts are annoying and pointless, why then would you choose to littler the thread with a whole post talking about how pointless another post is?
And this:lonelygirl wrote:sad that the first few pages of every thread about the videos is from a whole bunch of whingers. annoying. maybe this is part of the character development. geez.
Is making a post about other peoples choice of post topic something that belongs in the video dicussion??? IS IT???? Why are we not allowed to say that we don't like the fu*king videos?? At least that's talking about the fu*king video!!!It's not as if anyone who didn't like the video was somehow preventing others from posting their (apparently more valueable) opinions or thoughts about the video. This is driving me insane.raindown wrote:Edit: oh yea, and some actual discussion would be great. I'm all for expressing your opinions, but we could've done without the 10th comment about how much this video sucks.

OK, I'm over it. It did piss me off though.
VENTING RANT:
Well maybe I'm not because I thought of another thing: I'm not down with this whole "think before you type" kind of argument either. I type like I talk and I'm not sorry about it. It's my personal philosophy that you should just say whatever you're thinking.. within reason, obviously (which is up for interpretation). I don't think we should be censored or censor ourselves in order to be polite or "nice". I'm not a child, I don't have to follow rules like that. I don't think you should go around being a total bitch for no reason or anything...or go out of your way to be nasty, but if what I think comes out in a "harsh" way, thems the breaks.
Now I think I'm done. I just had to say that.

Barbie, your new video is really cute! You are so adorable!
I'm so sorry to hear you have to leave your life and move and everything. That's hard, especially since you have good friends there... But there's nothing wrong with a serious video! This was still really fun!
I thought Owen was especially good in this video! He's such a good actor!

The Campus on the Hill
W. D. Snodgrass
Up the reputable walks of old established trees
They stalk, children of the nouveaux riches; chimes
Of the tall Clock Tower drench their heads in blessing:
“I don't wanna play at your house;
I don't like you any more.”
My house stands opposite, on the other hill,
Among meadows, with the orchard fences down and falling;
Deer come almost to the door.
You cannot see it, even in this clearest morning.
White birds hang in the air between
Over the garbage landfill and those homes thereto adjacent,
Hovering slowly, turning, settling down
Like the flakes sifting imperceptibly onto the little town
In a waterball of glass.
And yet, this morning, beyond this quiet scene,
The floating birds, the backyards of the poor,
Beyond the shopping plaza, the dead canal, the hillside lying tilted in the air,
Tomorrow has broken out today:
Riot in Algeria, in Cyprus, in Alabama;
Aged in wrong, the empires are declining,
And China gathers, soundlessly, like evidence.
What shall I say to the young on such a morning?—
Mind is the one salvation?—also grammar?—
No; my little ones lean not toward revolt. They
Are the Whites, the vaguely furiously driven, who resist
Their souls with such passivity
As would make Quakers swear. All day, dear Lord, all day
They wear their godhead lightly.
They look out from their hill and say,
To themselves, “We have nowhere to go but down;
The great destination is to stay.”
Surely the nations will be reasonable;
They look at the world—don't they?—the world's way?
The clock just now has nothing more to say.

This is my FAVORITE part of
Robert Frosts
Birches
So was I once myself a swinger of birches.
And so I dream of going back to be.
It's when I'm weary of considerations,
And life is too much like a pathless wood
Where your face burns and tickles with the cobwebs
Broken across it, and one eye is weeping
From a twig's having lashed across it open.
I'd like to get away from earth awhile
And then come back to it and begin over.
May no fate willfully misunderstand me
And half grant what I wish and snatch me away
Not to return. Earth's the right place for love:
I don't know where it's likely to go better.
I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.
