I figure that if the parents were in the house while Bree was calling, Lucy and/or the Deacon was there too, telling them, "Don't answer that."rachelalexis wrote:Why would the parents not pick up the phone if they were there? Either they were taken earlier, then taken back to do something inside (maybe feigned that they forgot something important so they could put the note in P Monkey?) or they have been home and ignoring her calls. Would this be because people were there that they didn't want to talk to Bree in front of?
I doubt they couldn't have picked up the phone for a quick "stop calling, we'll call you when we can" if they were home. But that's entirely assuming.
Well, we haven't seen B&D actually manage to check in anywhere yet.I don't know how it is out there, but here you have to be 21 a lot of places to get a hotel room. I distinctly remember having to make my parents book me rooms when I was going a couple hours away for concerts when I was 18-20, because I was too young to do it in my name. Isn't Daniel 18? Or are the hotels out there different?
They could end up at one of those fleabag hotels that'll take anybody with cash. Or a place that rents by the hour, not the night. (Bleah. If you think Daniel's car looks cruddy, you should check out one of those places.)

These are really good questions. In movies the kidnappers sometimes have the abductees answer the phone and pretend that everything is okay (always in a strained voice, with sweat rolling down their faces). I was wondering if they had voicemail or one of those answering machines where you can hear the voice of the person calling, and if Lucy and the alleged deacon knew that Bree was trying to get a hold of her parents.rachelalexis wrote: Why would the parents not pick up the phone if they were there? Hotel possibilities
Based on my misspent time in college, I can tell you that there are hotels you can check into when you're 18--places like Red Roof Inn, etc. Also, smaller seedier places will rent to people without proper ID if they pay in cash, but these are usually in dangerous areas and sometimes are the kind of place that charge by the hour. Nonetheless, they have options, as long as they have money.
