Hey wait a minute....
.....I'm sure an award winning motif and slogan with the potential to generate millions in revenue is worth a little more than a free t shirt.
Call me cynical but wouldn't a top designer expect a percentage of the sales or at least a one off fee considerably more expensive than the cost of a t shirt.
If you don't feel like stumping up the cash for a better prize, how about offering some kind of 'money can't buy' prize, like at least an autographed
t shirt. I'm sure you have better ideas.
Or how about a Purple Monkey? I'm in the UK and I can't get hold of one of those for love nor money.
Everyone's going to be able to get hold of the winning design (unless you suck and done ship overseas) so that's not much of a prize for the wiiner is it?

Im just excited to be a part of this contest!
Im so excited and i just cant hide it.... ::does happy dance:: Ive got a bunch of designs made up already..
It would be a good enough prize for me just to have my design/artwork on lg15 merchandise.. but if the creators wanted to give us autographs or anything else that would be great too.
Also, maybe recognition of the designer on the site where they are gonna be sold would be nice... Like their email address or something.. that way people can contact them if they like their work and perhaps want some design work done for themselves... Just a suggestion. I know that would be beneficial to up and coming designers and stuff.

I didn't read this thread before i posted in the other one, but being a professional graphic artist and illustrator (done dozens of official t-shirt desing over the years,) I am a wee bit thrown off by lack of official rules, submission dates, guidlines, and no mention of copywrite holding or licenses.
I don't see any disclaimer here that says exactly how, where, how long and under what license our artwork can be used, sold or otherwise distributed?
Not to mention...a free t-shirt? As compesation? Really? Well you get what you pay for (Or a good artist with no idea about how the creative business works gets really ripped off by signing away any and all rights to their work since nothing is stated otherwise!)

...I bet it won't be autographed for Yousef that's for sure!!!twjaniak wrote:The Creators are considering other prizes. Among them are autographed items and/or P. Monkeys. I'm not certain though, it's up to them.

You should let us know about what the deals are for real t-shirt designers. Like how much revenue-sharing is there, etc. We should try and make the prize more along those lines- a P. Monkey autographed by Jess frankly is still worth about $8 + shipping.kateycat18 wrote:Not to mention...a free t-shirt? As compesation? Really? Don't get me wrong there are plenty of desing contests that don't offer real compensation, my main issue is the use of the images. For example I couldn't enter this contest (though I'd like to,) because i have a contract with my agent that says I can't distribute my images through royalty free venues outside of that agency. So if I were granting a royalty free use of any image I might create for this contest that would violate my contract.
Odds are that's the kinf of licensing it would be so I couldn't participate anyway, but what I'm saying is it's very important to address the ownership/copywrite/licenisng of the artwork before people submit.

Here's my idea...
Don't do it for you to make money, do it for LG15 to make money.
People are buying the t-shirts primarily because they love the series, not because YOU designed it.
Even if they buy it because the design looks cool, get over yourselves. You don't need "your cut". It's okay to volunteer sometimes and if you're going to be a stink about it, don't participate.
And if you're bound by contract and cannot participate, then don't break contract and don't participate.
There's no reason for the whole business to get burdensome and overcomplicated.
