Is this really going anywhere?
Am I the only one who feels like this series is starting to flounder a bit? The videos are all starting to fit into a pattern:
1. Make brief reference to the trouble they're in.
2. Tell a silly, seemingly unrelated story which MAY be awash in meaningful, important clues, or may just be random nonsense.
3. Be sure to mention the stuffed animals.
I feel like the creators really have no idea where they're going with any of this, so they're stalling, giving us videos with a little bit of what everybody wants, without actually leading anywhere. They keep the cutesy people happy with stuffed animals and Daniel doing sweet things for Bree. They keep the mystery people happy with random stories and random things in the background they can dig through for clues. "Let's keep mentioning water, that'll keep 'em guessing!"
I could be totally wrong. Maybe all these seemingly random unrelated stories they keep telling us really DO contain vital clues, all of which will culminate in a masterpiece of creative storytelling by the end of the series. But it's starting to seem more to me like they are just trying to please everyone but don't really have any kind of plan behind it, or their plan keeps shifting so often to try to accomodate everyone that it simply isn't working.
Is there anybody else who feels this way?

I think the series is every bit as good as "Masterpiece Theater". But then, I'm easy.beavinator wrote:Am I the only one who feels like this series is starting to flounder a bit? The videos are all starting to fit into a pattern:

Well, I can only hope that's not what is going on. I really hope all the "clues" turn out to mean something and everything ties together...but I don't know. I'm still at a total loss here. It's almost like they're afraid to make a big move becuase someone is bound to be disappointed. That's why I really want to know when this is all going to end. It would give me some idea of when..or even [i if[/i] this is all going to start to make sense. At this point, I'm pretty curious to see what happens and I've already invested all this time in it....but if this keeps going on and on and on with nothing tying together...it's really gonna suck. Hope and patience is all we really have and I think both are beginning to wear thin.
I hope they don't want this to continue on forever...I don't think it's the kind of story that can. It needs to end relatively soon in my opinion.

Me and my key...same as it ever was.
Well, at least Gemma told us it's not a religion (if she is truthful). That's a start... albeit a small start. Also, the videos are coming faster, but I agree there needs to be a major break relatively soon. This is not a media that will sustain over a long period of time, IMO. The videos are too short to do that, and it doesn't have the number of viewers that soaps have, or the financing either.spaciegirl wrote:Well, I can only hope that's not what is going on. Well worded and I agree 100%. You should start a poll.beavinator wrote:Am I the only one who feels like this series is starting to flounder a bit? The videos are all starting to fit into a pattern:

Re: Is this really going anywhere?
Thanks. I wondered if I should make this a poll when I posted, but I figured starting a whole thread just to bitch was obnoxious enough.Luv2Skydive wrote:Well worded and I agree 100%. You should start a poll.
Yeah I am definitely becoming one of the "somewhat fed up and bored" crowd, but also feel I've invested too much time in this not to see it through til the end. Like spaciegirl said, I just really hope it turns out to be worth it.
By the way Luv2, I'm sure others have said it but your avatar rules.

Re: Is this really going anywhere?
I am with you completely. I thought this was a smart, unique story but I'm beginning to think this is the beginning of the end. I too will see it through but I have a feeling I will have a lower opinion of the series after it ends, which is frustrating when it could be so good!beavinator wrote:Thanks. I wish I could make the Avatar a vid with Will "exploring his space". The belly hanging out is priceless!

Re: Is this really going anywhere?
Okay, so I’m a little frustrated as well, so I’m going to play lets pretend.
Let’s pretend…
I think the Order is obsessed with Egyptian symbolism because Egyptians were obsessed with mummifying or preserving the flesh/body (bastrime.. may be good but it’s also a way to preserve meat..add salt), extending life, eternal life, death/rebirth.
So, in that case, perhaps the Order is trying to induce Bree to go into hibernation. You know, slow her heart down to almost near death and then hope she survives it and can come back from it at a later time. It fits the symbolism of a sort of death and then rebirth…. And concievably it’s a way to extend life. In a way we’re already doing it by having people who’ve died.. freezed dried, so that later technology and medicine might revive them and cure them of disease.
How/Why do animals go into hiberantion? 1. The weather changes and it gets cold... we just had the equinox (winter is coming, the days are shorter, and Bree is complaining about being overly cold). 2. Lack of the availablity of food and cold blooded creatures slow down so it’s harder to hunt …well the Order put her on a diet, and allowed her carbs/sugar in the form of milk and cookies (I don’t want to go into it but I think glucose is related to the process). 3. Cold-blooded water creatures who hibernate tend to plunge deep to the bottom of a river or pond to do their thing and we’re getting a lot of talk of that from Gemma. 4. It’s still being researched but they say hibernators have something in their blood they call a HIT (Hibernation Inducement Trigger). They say it’s kind of like an opiate, or chemically related to morphine. I dunno, Bree was getting shots and taking pills and Lucy had a poster for absineth which implies some kind of ‘sedative.’
Now keeping all that in mind, we have a lot of squirrle referances, and they also hibernate and store food for the winter. Lot’s of nut/bread crumbs/cookie referances through out the vids. Of course, there’s a lot of referances to Bree being something of a hibernating water creature, birthday – she’s a Scorpio, baby blanket with an alligator, her turtle, various you tube tags, ect. Then for a little extra symbolism there’s Danielbeast who is often associated with the teddy bear, and of course bears hibernate as well. I don’t think monkey’s hibernate which might explain Gemma’s contempt of P Monkey, and perhaps Bree’s strange ‘proving science wrong’ video on Neandrathals. Come to think of it…in this context her ‘Uncertainty Principle” video makes a little more sense as well…
Anyways, I’m not sure if I’m pretending Bree is a lizard (cuz I've been itchin to do a Bree/Lizard morph in photoshop) or that The Order is some kind of organization doing weird experiments on people in pursuit of that holy grail of eternal youth, or a long/everlasting life. Whatever the case Bree probably should stay warm, and I’d like to see a little more progress. A character just isn’t that interesting or dynamic when there isn’t any moult.
All done pretending.
Yours,
Pi

Better yet, you could just use the dinosaur from the first video and put Bree's face on it.Pi wrote:Anyways, I’m not sure if I’m pretending Bree is a lizard (cuz I've been itchin to do a Bree/Lizard morph in photoshop)

Re: Is this really going anywhere?
This is amusing to me, as I'm currently playing Resident Evil, a game in which exactly these sorts of experiments took place, only they were going for Bio-Organic Weapons, not eternal life. They even combined lizard DNA with people, creating some REALLY nasty monsters called "hunters". If your theories are correct, Daniel better find a shotgun...Pi wrote:Anyways, I’m not sure if I’m pretending Bree is a lizard (cuz I've been itchin to do a Bree/Lizard morph in photoshop) or that The Order is some kind of organization doing weird experiments on people in pursuit of that holy grail of eternal youth, or a long/everlasting life.
