Reigning theory (or not, it's just what I'm seeing):

It was a test AND a call from the other side.

Lets see if I can break it on down:

When Op found the phone, it was a way for her to kill two birds with one stone ....

1. She could use the phone to test us.
2. She could use the phone to withdrawl infomation from "The Dude"

So, Op tapped the phone and gave us a very elaborate test to see if we could find the number. When we all did find the number, we left messages or maybe it was just caller ID.

Since this phone was a way for Tachylon to call The Dude, he's like "Why are all these crazy ass people calling our secret line?"

So he calls us back and trys to get us to tell him what he knows.

Op listens. Op decides whether she liked our answers or not.

So, in this very elaborate ruse, Op was both able to spy on us AND the bureau. Thus, it was BOTH a real call and a test.

I would be remiss if I did not add that some people do not subscribe to this theory .... they think it's ALL OpAphid.

.. Mainly Chess. Because she's loud and repeats stuff a lot in chat.

Guy: Why did you call this number?
Me: I didn't.
Guy: Well, I just got a call from this number, and when I called it back it took me to this number. This is a secure line that we gave to my sister, so where is she?
Might be we are to believe that Op retrieved "brother's" number from Tachyon's cell phone and was calling him herself, using technology to make "brother" believe the calls were originating from our* phone numbers.

*our meaning those who received the call, which does not include me :(

she is sending pawns into a minefield! smart in a way so that the other side would be very confused and none of us could really implicate opaphid.

if we were smart enough to get the phone number correct, she assumes we'd remember the vampire code to answer the question. then if we remembered the voicemail we'd perform well and see what they said.

does anyone else feel like OpAphid is setting up one big Rube Goldberg Machine?

it's cool how a lot of the earlier stuff makes sense now, but i have a bit of head rush.

- how did the bureau call from Tachyons number? And how did they get access to the voicemail? (as OpAphid currently has the phone)
- why were conversations followed by a confirmation of a pass/fail

Sorry - I am kind of tired as writing this.... perhaps other people can elaborate it.
Just got home from work, thought I'd chime in.

The bureau didn't call from Tachyon's #. OpAphid pulled her partners # from the cell phone that Tach lost and sent our #s to that # in an attempt to test us. OpAphid can caller id spoof, since calls that we got from her came from 0000123456 (or something like that). She had the line tapped, and listed to our responses. If we gave any info to "The Dude", we fail. If we did not, or better yet got info from him, we pass. Hooray for us! :)

I don't wanna type out my entire conversation, because I'm lazy. Basically starts out the same every time, USA Today, psychic vampire, where is my sister. The Dude does interchange the words "family/orginization" and "sister/parter" a lot. I did get him to say that they haven't heard from Tachyon since the video's posted. He also freaked out when I asked if he was in LA/Beverly Hills. He asked me how I knew that, I said his # showed up on my caller ID. He said this is a secure line, I said he should invest in a caller ID block. Any other specific questions are answered with "thats classified information". At the end he gives the same threat about if anything happens to his sister (he actually said partner I think in my convo) that he'll get us, and to tell our "superiors" that he is going to take us all down. It was fun, just like being at work actually.

Anyway, any specific questions you can PM me, but since everyone has posted their conversations I don't know what could be asked :)

Not to me, he said he was from USA Today and didn't give a name.

A hole in this phone theory is that some of us didn't leave the number in a voicemail. Some of us just messaged Op. I didn't leave my number or call the phone in question at all, so the only way for The Dude to get my number was from the message I sent to Op. HOWEVER, I recall that he did word things as if I had been the one to call him and leave my number, so perhaps I'm to believe Op sent this number to the phone or left her own voicemail with my number attached to it?? When I sent my number I recieved a call VERY soon after.

Dude: We don't have internet access.
Me: Go to a public library then, they'll have internet.
Dude: Maybe in your area, ma'am. Maybe in your area. Not here.
Okay. So we can establish that Tachyon's organization is headquartered in a 3rd world country...

EDIT: This is a joke.

I stated this in the chatroom, but I'm pretty sure the guy was just using the excuse of not having any internet in an attempt for us to give him more information. He was playing dumb, if you will. :P

While I don't doubt that Op can caller ID spoof, and I think you're right that she did so when calling "Brother" which prompted his calling us, it should be noted that those 000 calls are from the internet. Sign on Skyoe and cal your cell phone. Then check out the caller ID when it rings. ;)

Yeah, I think he was playing dumb.

Remember he said he hadn't heard from Tachy since she posted her videos. He has to have internet, he's just being sneaky... Too bad he's retarded.

Its late I know...but I finally got my log-in to work.

Yep, I left my phone number on a complete strangers voicemail, unknowing the outcome.
2 days later, I recieve a call from a guy asking a 'poll' question about USA Today....this is how the conversation quickly unfolded.......

Him: So, can you tell me, what do psychic vampires feed off of?
Me: Uhhh.....your mind?
Him: Can you be more specific?
Me: Energy?
Him: Is my sister there?
Me: Your sister?
Him: You called me and left your number on my voicemail, how did you get this number?
Me: It was kind of given to me.
Him: Do you know where my sister is?
Me: Who is your sister?
Him: That is classified information. Listen, Mom and Dad are really worried about her, do you know where she is?
Me: Ohhh, I know who you are talking about.
Him: You do?
Me: Yes, Tachyon.
Him: Yes, I really need to know where my partner, I mean, sister is.
Me: Wait a minute, you just called her your partner...is she your partner or your sister?
Him: I know I made a mistake. Do you know where I can find her?
Me: No, I dont know where she is.
Him: So, you dont know where she is?
Me: No, I cant help you.
Him: (long pause) *sigh*
CLICK. He hung up on me.
Phone rings again....and please understand how nervous and excited I was....
I hear Op's voice saying "Congratulations"
It was the test....and I had passed.

::rofl:: I'm too nervous to do the call meself, so I have constructed the event in my head as so...

Dude: Hello. (Blah Blah Blah) what do psychic vampires eat?
Me: Ah, psychic vampires. I believe they are one of the three popular vampires, along with the Chinese vampire and the classic draculaian vampire. As everyone knows, the draculaian vampires feed on blood, though few know that Chinese vampires--
Dude: Uh, ma'am, could you please answer the question?
Me: ::gasp:: Well I never! How young are you? Twenty-three? Twenty-four? How DARE you interrupt your elders like that! (I'm actually twenty, but everyone says on the phone, me and my 52-year-old mom sound alike.) Would you interrupt your GRANDMOTHER--??
Dude: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I am simply pressed for time. If you would please condense your answer, ma'am?
Me: ::Slightly exasperated sigh:: Oh alright. Energy. They feed off of energy.
Dude: ::under his breath:: it's about damn-- oh ::louder:: So, where is she?
Me: Which one?
Dude:: What??
Me: Well there are four...
Dude: FOUR?! What the f**k?!
Me: Oh, and now you pull out the sailor talk! If you just wanted to speak to me or one of my sisters, you could have kept the language clean!!
Dude: ::looong silence:: O...kay.... Where's my sister?
Me: Oh dear me, don't you ever visit home for the holidays to know how to reach your own kinfolk??
Dude: (Blah Blah) answering machine (Blah Blah) this number.
Me: ....Well that's simple. I didn't ever call you. You called me just now!!
Dude:: Gah! If you lay a hand on my partner--
Me: Oh wow! So you're one of those! Your sister is your partner, you have a few long stakeouts... I can hear by the intensity in your voice little man!
Dude: Aw f**k this! ::hangs up::

OpAphid calling back: Congratulations. You are one shrewd bitch!
Me: Why thankyou, I try.
Op: Shortly after your call, Brother had an anyurism, fell on the switchboard of the enemy's controls, and we now have their location, along with 27000 accomplices!
Me: Ya just don't mess with a writer of 14 years with intense ADD!!

And perhaps I'd switch accents during the whole process to screw with him even moreso....
