I'd love to have a Mark as Read function.

yeh there used to be one but it dusnt work properly now

I don't know if there is a Mark as Read function for each individual thread (which I believe is your initial request), but there is a link to mark all of the threads/forum read at the bottom left of your screen.

When the page icon next to the thread is orange, that means there are new posts that you haven't viewed yet.

There is a key at the bottom of the page (bottom-left of the main page of a topic) that explains the function of each page icon.

There is a mark as read button for each section. It's up on the right hand corner, right across from where the index title is.

I've had no problem getting it to work properly. I use use all the time to clear the board, as there are quite a few sections that I don't read and if I don't clear them, I get excited thinking that there are new posts in the sections that I do read, lol!
