See, maybe the reason I feel the need to state that I hate them is because I have been on the verge of a major puke-fest many times listening to people go on and on about them..I'm glad some people share my same reaction.
I don't particularly like them either, but I would have been surprised -- based on my understanding of the character -- if she hadn't taken them along.
spaciegirl wrote:(I must admit, secretely, I'm thinking she took them becuase the creators know that many people are obsessed with them. That is irritating.)
Like I said in my post earlier, I'm pretty sure that was fanservice (there were way too many people worrying about whether she took the stuffed animals along after "On The Run" came out) and they just incorporated it into how Bree's reacting to this whole thing. Which, now that I've seen the animals present, I think actually works better than it would have without them.

Allow me to explain: without the stuffed animals' presence, we don't get this unique presentation of Bree's reaction to this whole situation. We tend to associate stuffed animals with children and immaturity, right? Well, Bree having them along and even taking them with her to the pool 1) emphasises for us what her personality's like and 2) shows just how she regresses under stress.

Without the stuffed animals in this video, we lose an opportunity for valuable characterization. As a character scene, this most recent video was a goldmine, I think. I'm not really a fan of the plushies (well, Owen's okay), but I think the Creators made a good move with this video. They took what could have been vapid fanservice and put it to use in exploring the character further. Well done, I say.

The Creators don't always make good decisions (no offense intended; just from an artistic standpoint, I think they fumble a lot), but when they make one, it's usually a really good one.

Fanservice that leads to character development....hmmm. I can live with it if I look at it that way.

You're right. I just have this crazy habit of getting testy when someone calls me an idiot..and then say's that it's an understatement.

Omegawoman, that is interesting about Alaska..I wonder if any of that will be what turns out to be significant. I have to say, I wish we would get some confirmation on our research from time to time. It seems that not much has really been verified..clue wise. Everything is sort of piling up at this point.
Sorry Spacie- I am bi-polar and in bit of a manic state right now, so not thinking clearly. I will look for the links again later tonight and hopefully be thinking clearly enough to save the links. Everything started to mingle together and it made sense to me at the time, but who really knows what my alter ego managed to find. LOL

no, no, I wasn't saying that it didn't make sense. It's all relevant. I just hope that sometime soon we find out how some of this stuff all ties together.

DavetheAvatar wrote:Several points here:

1. The animals - From what we know about Bree and her sheltered lifestyle it makes perfect sense she would want to be with all her friends (i.e. Daniel, P. Monkey, Thor and Owen) at a time when really her whole life, not just her beliefs, has been shattered.

2. Daniel's mood - I think Daniel is starting to lose his patience. He clearly cares a lot for Bree but he's not as naive or sheltered as she is. He has a life and whilst his wanting to protect Bree keeps him with her, he is angry that he can't go to the police, that he can't see his other friends, that the Order is after him, that his life has been taken away because of her. Oh, and you're right, he SO wants to get into her pants.

3. Clues? - There is always the chance that we have underestimated Bree and realising the Order could be monitoring her videos, she is dropping hints for us. Clue working has never been my strong point but things that spring to mind: Alaska (location to find?), 1998 (Something happened involving the Order in 1998?), Swimming (clues in the swimming video or something at the place they were swimming?). Of course it's rather more likely that she was simply being Bree and that Daniel can't swim.

4. Daniel Can't Swim - If he can't, who's willing to bet that at some point, Bree and Daniel will have to swim for freedom from the Order and Daniel gets caught? This could also explain point 2. He could just have been embarrassed.

5. The Order's Influence - Unusually smart thinking for Bree. She's avoiding places where the Order may have influence such as the police etc. I find it odd that Bree and Daniel seem to have swapped roles here. Bree is the one being paranoid about the Order and Daniel being oddly naive. Perhaps Daniel just never realised how far the Order goes whereas Bree who was basically raised by them, knows all too well.

6. Why are the Order after her? - If Bree were just some girl to them then they would have given up long ago but I think we can all agree there's something special about her. Despite not being a religion per se, they do have religious undertones with the weird ceremonies and the likes so that opens up a whole number of options: 1. Bree has been decided upon and the rituals started around her and there is no going back, 2. Bree has been injected with whatever it was and they only have enough for one person, 3. Bree is a threat to the Order, she knows their secrets and is not shy with revealing things acros the internet.

7. Gemma - How long are the Order going to allow Gemma to tells us the secrets? She's in danger of being "silenced" or maybe she's working with them? It's rather coincidental that as soon as the Order had problems with Bree, and old friend shows up. I'm thinking that she was called in to stop Bree or convince her to trust her by seeming opposed to the order e.g "They Disapeared."

So there, just a few thoughts I had. I'm not really an active member of the boards so feel free to criticise.
Wow. I'm just taking all my clues from here. Did you read S for Summer's post about Alaska and 1998? She may be one to something.

Back to the swimming thing, there's an Egypt/water/chaos/Nun/eye connection. I posted a link about it in the plot discussion area. Doesn't look like too many people are looking at it so, forgive the repeat here, but it could be important. I don't know.
This talks about it: http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/nun.htm

Thanks for the link, Spaciegirl.

We have so many ideas now I can't remember them all:

Alaska, Thelema, Gemma, Daniel swimming, police, secrecy, betrayal, water, 1998, DNA, plus probably many others I can't remember.

Answers, Creators?

Sorry I can't contribute any great insights of my own. I can't seem to think of anything great and its all been said before.

I posted earlier that I thought the Abbey of Thelema was in Alaska. I was wrong, it is actually in Italy.

Yeah, Cefalu, right? I thought wou were talking about another abbey, not the abbey. Has anyone seen pictures of that place, BTW? It's in total disrepair. You'd think the Thelemites would ban together and try to restore it or something. I wonder if they have made an effort to do anything about it. I saw a while ago someone who was british I think talk about how Americans take Crowley more seriously that Europeans. I wonder if the abbey being in Italy has anything to do with why it's gone to sh*t.
(sorry that wasn't really related to this video..just came out)

I"m still not sure why they would think that going to the police would be a good idea.

#1 Her parents are adults, there is no sign that they have been taken someplace against their will.

No ranson note, no threats, just "suspicious" behaviour by her parents/members of "the order".

At this point, if they went to the police, without any evidence of "the order" doing anything against the law, what are the police supposed to do.

To be honest, depending on how much money bree's parents left her, it would probalby be a better idea to hire a private detective to follow Lucy/others of the order and try and do some 3rd party reconnaisance of their own.

Yeah.....a private detective would be a good idea. It would make for cool videos too. That's the best damn idea I've heard in forever.
