I have sent a PM.
I as well, have sent a PM and I think most of the issue I brought up are addressed in the PM.
But I would like to say that the rules and regs that are posted are very very loose and vague and RARELY followed.
THAT is an issue that needs to be addressed as well. And I personally feel that if that issue will be address then the flaming issue will be addressed.

These rules are posted in Forum Announcements.

I don't mean to interrupt.
Thanks for that. I don't think the issue is that there are no rules...but that the rules aren't being enforced consistently...which is what harbors confusion and resentment and leads to flame wars and attacks.
Thank you Gogo, and agreed Bethy. If these rules were being enforced consistently, this thread most likely, would not even exist.
You made a wise choice, Bree.

Now, if you guys REALLY want to discuss this, make a thread in the Gen. Dis. Flame me all you want there. But in ten minutes I will be moving all of these posts out of this thread so the people who actually want to play the game don't have to go through all this bullshit.

Note the bolded part? This was the moderator's directive and an open invitation. So, I did just that. I took the issue out of the thread and posted a thread where she directed, and I addressed the issues.

This moderator's first reaction to it?
OMFG, You're such a drama queen.
The initial quote here was a directive regarding the subject causing the bloat.
Your subsequent posting was A LOT more than simply continuing the original bloated discussion.

You fail to mention your personal attacks against the Operator, caused because she dared to use a large red font to bring attention to the need for On Topic discussion.

Rules and norms. A perfect example here. Drop threads are for drops. They are not to be used for anything else. When they were, there was a justifiable and expected negative reaction.

While all of this was occuring, the Operator you continue to, imo, slander:
1. Was the only forum Operator online at the time
2. Was the drop retriever's Operator on the phone at the time
3. Was pulling double duty updating both the forums and the irc chat

I have failed to see you acknowledge any of this anywhere. That she was feeling absolute frustration with what was going on is evident and justified. That there was an inability to control the thread, due to her wearing different drop hats, but, more importantly, due to the uncontrollable frenzy going on and subsequent personal attacks on her when she tried her best at control is not, in any way a reflection on her ability to moderate. Rather, it is a blatant example of individuals unwillingness to stay on-topic, follow the rules and norms, and respect the game.

Bethy, you need to take some time for self-reflection, to own your actions, and take responsibility for your part in the problem.

The Operator was doing what she could to preserve the drop, the drop thread, and in updating the members, the game.

I personally commend and thank her.
You owe her an apology.

I am reading this (http://www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4841) and I just want to quickley highlight some things...
Be Friendly
This is the number one rule at this forum.
:?
Disagreements: Attack the Argument, Not the Poster
:?

And I have to add that I think this is not oly lacking in it's actuall aplication but is also too vague to express a true process/policy:
Enforcement of These Rules Most people already stick to these rules/policies, but on occasion you will see someone who is posting off-topic, aggressively, offensively, or even posting spam. If you are concerned about a user, please PM a moderator or admin and provide a link to the post that concerns you. If you are one of these users, you will be warned about your actions and your post will be deleted if it is deemed inappropriate. Depending on the level of offense, you will be given warnings. Repeat offenders may be banned, and no one wants that! (Note: spammers will be immediately banned.)
I have no clues to offer you... But I know how to download if you're offering!!!

i wsa kind of hoping my old forum that was shut down last year because of a lack of moderators (purplepjs.com) would still have their rules and regulations hiden somewheres...but unfortunately they done.
I do beleive the problem with the rules and regs here are that they are vague and not followed by half of the people here, inluding some of the moderators.

(but that being said...i'm repeating myself)

kts, one of my favorite forums is Vote For The Worst... catered mostly around American Idol. Some people see it as a negative place, but they really exist to make fun of establishment rather than the person. They're really misunderstood.

ANyway, they have a relatively short, but effective set of rules. It's by far the best run forum I've ever visited. It's a bit "zoo like" for a lot of people who aren't familiar with it, but the admins and mods are ramrod consistent.

Here are their rules...there is some profanity and such (skip over it if you don't want to read it)...but that's kind of the nature of the board...and you'll see what I mean.
Here are the Rules- Read Em... Or Else!

By posting on this board, you agree that you have read these rules and will abide by them. If you have any questions or need help with your account, registering, or anything, feel free to PM a moderator or administrator.

We're a fun, simple forum where you say just about anything that's on your mind. Just follow these simple rules and you'll have no problems. Break the rules? You'll probably be banned from posting. And that's no fun! You can use foul language here, we don't care. You can make fun of whoever you want, including the people who run the site, bring it on! Just don't do the following things:

1. Don't start new, pointless threads.
We'll lock your thread if there is already a lengthy discussion about any given topic in another thread. If you're new, reply to some threads before thinking about starting a new one. So if you start a thread called "OMG I DON'T LIKE KELLIE," when a thread for Kellie hate already exists, we might smack you. Keep discussions in pre-existing topics if possible. If you need help, this video should do the trick.

2. Don't spam.
You can post a link to your website in the appropriate forum only if it's about American Idol, Canadian Idol, etc. Don't post non-show spam in any forum or else. Also, if you continually post a link to your awesome website or keep posting new topics about it, you're gone. You can link to websites, just make sure it's relevant or not entirely self-promotional. Cool?

3. No flooding.
Don't post in a thread 100 times for no reason just to be a dick. We'll ban your ass. If we notice that you're posting nothing substantial, yet you keep posting over and over, don't expect to be here long. In case you don't get the hint, people who hate VFTW, that includes you. Feel free to start ONE new topic on why you hate VFTW or post in existing ones. We welcome you here to share your opinion, but respect the rules. Starting lots of topics or jumping in on every topic to post off topic about how much you hate it here will get you banned.

4. No overly racist, homophobic, or prejudiced comments that would be in really bad taste.
You can make fun of someone, but don't act like an idiot. Using hate speech against any group that is in bad taste (such as the word "f****t", "camel jockey", generally any racial or homophobic slur, etc) is not cool and will not be tolerated. If you have to resort to those tactics, you probably aren't smart. Don't talk about raping someone either, it's completely uncalled for. You can call Clay Aiken gay, you can say he likes it up the butt, but don't call him a "cocksucking f****t". It's just a respect issue to our members. Got it?

5. No porn.
That means no penises, no vaginas, no titties. Don't do it. You can link to it with a warning if it's appropriate for the thread you're posting in (for example, if one of the Flavor of Love hoes is posing naked, you can link to their pictures in the appropriate thread about them), but don't post the actual pictures in a thread. The only penis allowed is the penis with ears...that's Chris Daughtry.

6. Don't bring shit from other boards or real life here to cause drama.
We don't care. If you hate someone on other board or in real life and you attack them on here, your ass is grass. Seriously, use the other board or a simple telephone call to tell someone you hate them. Our board is not the place for you to spill over your feelings. Don't stalk people onto this board either. And don't post shit from the real life of other posters, such as their pictures or anything else attributed them you learned outside this site without their consent. Not cool.

7. Avatar maximum size is 100x100.
Don't go any bigger. You are not special enough to have a bigger avatar for any reason.

8. If you have any questions, please contact one of the moderators by PM.
Our mods and admins are Canookiansuckster, Dissimilis, Ellen, Hersavvyness, ItsMeDeb, Ivette 2.0, Nigel Lies, Slacking, SmellsLikeHome, and Thefunnystone. They will be more than happy to assist you.

9. DANCE!

10. Legal disclaimer, bitches.
By sending email or posting at VFTW message boards you grant the owner, host, administrators and moderators the world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt, distribute and publish any content (including your name, likeness and email address) you sent or posted, for the purposes of displaying such information on VFTW's site and/or the promotion and marketing of VFTW services. In other words...if you email us or post something stupid, there's a good chance we'll want to make fun of you or have some fantastic gain from your stupid ass. When you click send, new post, or add reply, you agree to it.

If you abide by these rules, we'll have no problems. If you do end up breaking these rules, you may end up being banned. Really, we're nice, and we won't do that unless you really push our buttons. But don't push them. They tend to stick and then we have to spend all day unjamming them. Come on, you can even post the sentence "f**k all you motherfuckers, die!" so it's not like we're Nazis here, K? Have fun, we can't wait to hear from you!

Granted...most of that wouldn't fly here...but that's their community...and they are very consistent and welcoming, even to people who hate them. And thre are a LOT of people who hate them.

You fail to mention your personal attacks against the Operator, caused because she dared to use a large red font to bring attention to the need for On Topic discussion.
I never personally attacked the moderator until she, first, ASKED for a flame thread and proceeded called me a drama queen..among other choice phrases, and I've got the entire thread (before she started deleting things) to prove it. You don't know the entire story about what happened...and you are actually proving some points here quite readily without anybody's assistance. But you know what, Sphinx...this isn't the place for this. This thread is for a discussion about a larger topic. It's time to knock it off. I used her verifiable inconsistent moderation as an example of the topic at hand. And that's where I'm going to keep it.

A personal Favorite... ;)
FORUM RULES

1. Flaming (insulting or fighting) of ANY kind is strictly forbidden and NOT TOLERATED. Moderators will take action against you if you are involved in flaming.

2. Before you post anything, read the Announcement and Sticky threads in each section as they contain important information that is frequently asked about. Also use the Search function at the top of the page to look for a previous thread on a topic you want to post about. Chances are something you want to talk about has already been discussed many times before so please use common courtesy and search, and add to existing threads. Threads about old topics that are posted will be locked.

-Note: Posting in very old threads, that are months old or more, is not allowed if you don't have a legitimate reason. An example of a legitimate reason would be adding a new, previously unmentioned discovery to the discussion there.

3. Make sure you are posting your thread in the correct section. Threads about baseball should go in Off Topic, and so on. Very importantly, SPOILERS OR ANY POSTS INVOLVING THEM ONLY GO IN THE SPOILERS SECTION.

4. Spamming of any kind will not be tolerated. Spam includes, but is not limited to, one word posts, "pointless" posts and threads (posts that clearly serve no purpose), posts that are attempting to do nothing more than raise a user's post count, and advertisements (see rule #5).

5. Spamming advertisements for such sites as pornography, online gambling, pharmaceuticals, illegal software, online dating, competing websites, etc. is ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED. Your account will automatically be banned and all your posts deleted.

GENERAL POSTING GUIDELINES - MUST BE FOLLOWED

-Please keep swearing to a minimum.
-Signature pictures may be no bigger than a TOTAL of 500x200 pixels, which includes having multiple images in your sig, all of their sizes added together still cannot exceed that limit. NO animated pictures, except for userbars which cannot exceed the standard size of 350x20.
-No posting of offensive pictures or otherwise explicit content.

PLEASE NOTE: Any post/thread created that is not in accordance with these rules is subject to lock/edit/deletion by moderators. If you observe any breaking of these rules, PLEASE send a PM about it to a moderator with a link to the thread.
The BEST part about this forum... THEY ENFORCE EVERY ONE OF THESE RULES WITH OUT PREJUDICE!!! :D

Different perspectives making all the difference imo.

i agree with almost everything that has been said in this thread. the forum has a bad rep and it needs to change. i think most of this comes from people resorting to stupid personal insults, and the bad moderation. and yes, it is bad moderation. (not to attack anyone personaly) i really hope we'll be able to find a solution!
That was the weirdest display of geekdom that I have ever seen in my entire life.
