i think she said that if you figured out the VM, then you'll be prepared.

Quotations

Post by Sad Panda »

Okay, I know this is my first post, but trust me ... I've been engrossed in this for a few days now and this is the first time I feel educated enough to butt my nose in. :D

But here's my question (it might have already been posed, but I havent seen it yet) .... has anyone paid attention to the significance that the voicemail was 99% quotations? I know that we know who the quotations are from, but maybe there is significance in the authors? Like, a common connecting thread.

I don't know. It's just a theory. But I'm going to check it out. If anyone thinks of anything, let me know.

The viocemail is in fact composed entirely of quotations, but so is most of the things OpAphid says. It seems it's a trend for her communications. The quoets are being studied somewhere and you can find some more info at the LGPedia, but I really don't think it's something we shoulb reading too much into (at least not at this point, later maybe. Who knows?). After all, she said this regarding the study of the quotes in the VM:
While history is full of subtle clues toward greater secrets, some messages are meant to be taken literally--regardless of any deeper connections we might suspect.
'There's a hole in my soul
you can see it in my face
it's a real big place.'

I was talking with my girlfriend about the quotes, and she had an interesting point that someone who chooses to speak in such a way is someone who uses history to illustrate points.

Like, "speaking through history."

It got me started thinking about the nature of OpAphid and all the talk of eternity and ages, etc.

Conceptually it makes me think more about the themes of the quotes and what they have meant over time, rather than who said them.

Does that make sense?

It's actually brilliant in a way, because it really gives weight to the statements when taken as a whole or seperately. It also allows you to read into their current context and make some educated guesses.
