This is all well and good, but the problem I have here is, what exactly WAS she blindly following her whole life? She's told us on multiple occasions that she actually doesn't know AT ALL the true meaning or significance of her ceremony, yet for some reason she was still dedicated to it. I don't understand how anyone, however young, can purport to believe in something when they haven't even been told what it really is. How can a ceremony be truly important to someone who doesn't even know the simple basics of its actual purpose? Most parents who bring their children up in a certain religion tend to actually EXPLAIN it to them to at least some degree. "This is what we believe, and this is why." When I had my first communion as a child, I may not have FULLY understood the significance of the ritual I was taking part in, but I at least was given basic knowledge of the meaning and purpose behind the ritual. It doesn't seem like Bree has been given much, or any, of the "why" behind her so-called "beliefs" at all.Kimmi-Chan wrote:Ok for all those that are saying that Bree should have known that something was going to happen with the fake ceremony, I'm sorry but I think that you're giving her too much credit. Seriously, though she's sixteen, and as far as her intellect goes, a lot older than that, her street smarts are completely non-existant. I mean, she's naiive, and we all know that. She was told to trust the order, ALWAYS!!! She grew up with them and away from people that would teach her to doubt, so why would she think anything of what they tell her.

I think it would be a little off-base to assume Bree knows nothing at all about her entire belief system just because she didn't know much about this particular ceremony. I think she is highly intelligent and has true belief in her religion, and maybe she was taken a little off guard when she was asked to take part in this particular ceremony. And maybe a little shook up so she didn't question much....and remember they had told her that Daniel was not looking out for her best interests, so she went along with the lie. Then she saw his videos and remembered the good times....*sigh*...I bet she was playing some mix tape Daniel made for her (of course including "Don't You Forget About Me" and maybe "I'm All Out of Love" as well as some obscure L.A. band that none of us have heard before) while crying on Thor's shoulder, then she made this video.

I would just say "Yes, I'm sure that's it", except she kept stressing over and over again to us how "IMPORTANT" this ceremony specifically is, and how she is about to be going through a "major change" in her life. How can something be important to you if you don't even know what it is? How could you commit yourself to making a huge change in your life without having any idea what that change will be? That was my point...PansGirl wrote:I think it would be a little off-base to assume Bree knows nothing at all about her entire belief system just because she didn't know much about this particular ceremony. No one says that she knows nothing! It's the same thing with all secret societies. You move up you learn things that were secret to you before. That's called an initiatic path. you don't learn all the arcanas at once. And specifically you never know about the next ceremony that will make you move up! That's the point.PansGirl wrote:I think it would be a little off-base to assume Bree knows nothing at all about her entire belief system just because she didn't know much about this particular ceremony. Yes, I agree with the initiatic point...I was actually replying (forgot to quote) the Beav who was stating she is a blind faith follower... as in "It doesn't seem like Bree has been given much, or any, of the "why" behind her so-called "beliefs" at all."DontHaveAClue wrote:No one says that she knows nothing! Generally speaking, with any kind of rites of passage within most religions there is an air of mystery at the least, which makes the initiant that much more excited to be part of it.
