O. Song #11: Total the # of things music saves you from.
Tsunami Bomb - Negative One to Ten
So these girls live on my street,
or I guess I live on their's.
They thought I was showing them,
but really they made me aware,
just, how momentous music is,
and why we should care.
Songs stay with you your whole life,
remind you of time spent and gone,
carry you through dismal days,
and help you to carry on.
I, owe so many positive times.
to my favorite songs.
It can be more than just sounds and words,
It can be something that saves you from yourself,
your thoughts, your life, your world.
It can be more than a favorite line.
It can be something that shapes you when you're young,
but gives you freedom at the same time.
So these girls live on my street,
or I guess I live on their's.
They thought I was showing them,
but really they made me aware,
just how momentous music is,
and why we should share.
It can be more than just sounds and words.
It can be something that saves you from yourself,
your thoughts, your life, your world.
It can be more than a favorite line.
It can be something that shapes you when you're young,
but gives you freedom at the same time.
It can be more than just sounds and words.
It can be something that saves you from yourself,
your thoughts, your life, your world.
It can be more than a favorite line.
It can be something that shapes you when you're young,
but gives you freedom at the same time.
I believe it's 4, since multiples don't seem like they would count in this instance.

lyric sites can be wrong and don't always take into account repeat, backing vocals, etc.
listening to the songs and cross referencing them with the lyrics is probably the smart move.
that math looks kinda complex to where guessing won't work. dammit!

Ok the thread is up now, I'll be cleaning it up, but you can still post there now, also if everyone is just going to post the lyrics, I see no reason to post links so I didn't.

acidfingers wrote:H. Song #3: Total every 2 that is mentioned, before it's time to get loose.
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
I wanna rock right now
I'm Rob Base and I came to get down
I'm not internationally known
But I'm known to rock the microphone
Because I get stoopid, I mean outrageous
Stay away from me if you're contagious
'Cause I'm the winner, no, I'm not the loser
To be an M.C. is what I choose 'a
Ladies love me, girls adore me
I mean even the ones who never saw me
Like the way that I rhyme at a show
The reason why, man, I don't know
So let's go, 'cause
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
My name is Rob, I gotta real funky concept
Listen up, 'cause I'm gonna keep you in step
I got an idea
That I wanna share
You don't like it? So what, I don't care
I'm number one, the uno, I like comp
Bring all the suckers 'cause all them I'll stomp
Bold and black but I won't protect
All of my followers 'cause all I want is respect
I'm not a doctor, put them in rapture
A slick brother that can easy outfox ya
Cause I'm Rob, the last name Base, yeah
And on the mike, I'm known to be the freshest
So let's start, it shouldn't be too hard
I'm not a sucker so I don't need a bodyguard
I won't fess, wear a bulletproof vest
Don't smoke buddha, can't stand sess, yes
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
The situation that the Base is in
I'm kinda stingy that's why I don't wanna lend
A funky rhyme to a foe or a good friend
But listen up 'cause I want you to comprehend
'Cause I'm the leader, the man superior
I take care of ya and then ya get wearier
So just sit, my rhymes arenot counterfeit
The record sells which makes this one a hit
It won't hurt to listen to Red Alert
Take off your shirt
Make sure it don't hit the dirt
I like the kids--the guys, the girls
I want the ducats 'cause this is Rob Base's world
I'm on a mission, ya better just listen
To my rhymes 'cause I'm all about dissin'
'Cause
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
I stand alone, don't need anyone
'Cause I'm Rob, just came ot have fun
Don't need friends that act like foes
'Cause I'm Rob Base, the one who knows
About things that make ya get weary
Don't cheer me, just hear me
Out 'cause I got the clout--shout (Ho!)
Before I turn the party out
I won't stutter--
Project my voice, speak clearly
So you can be my choice
On stage or on record
Go to the Wiz and select it
Take it off the rack, if it's wack put it back
I like the Whopper, f**k the Big Mac
If you want static, so let's go
So, throw upyour hands
Go for what you know
Bro', I got an ego
Yo, talkin' to me? No
Oh
'Cause Rob is in the front, EZ Rock is on the Back up
We're not soft, soyou better just slack up
'Cause I'm cool, calm just like a breeze
Rock the mike with the help of EZ
Rock on the set, the music plays
Only cuts the records that I say
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
All right, now, EZ Rock
now, when I count to three
I want you ot get busy
You ready now?
One, two, three, get loose now!
It takes two to make a thing go right
It takes two to make it outta sight
Hit it!
I count 11
Listen to the songs. There are way more 2's in each chorus than the lyric site shows.

M. Song #13: How many times is the title repeated in the song. And then? See title.
Violent Femmes - Add it up
Day after day, I will walk, and I will play.
But the day, after today, I will stop, and I will start.
Why can't I get just one kiss?
Why can't I get just one kiss?
Believe me there's somethings I wouldn't miss,
but I look at your pants and I need a kiss.
Why can't I get just one screw?
Why can't I get just one screw?
Baby I know what to do,
but something won't let me make love to you.
Why can't I get just one ****?
Why can't I get just one ****?
Guess its' got something to do with luck,
but I've waited my whole life for just one...
Day after day I get angry and I will say
that the day is in my sight,
take a vow to say good night.
Oh ma ma ma ma mo ma mum
Have you kept an eye, and eye on your son.
I know you've got problems,
Your not the only one, when your sugar left
he left you on run.
Oh ma ma ma ma mo ma mum
Take a look now at what your boy has done.
He's walking around like he's number one.
He went downtown and got him a gun.
Don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
Don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
You know you've got my sympathy, but
don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
Don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
Don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
You know you've got my sympathy. but
don't shoot shoot shoot that thing at me.
Looking down kitchen at the top of stairs
can I mix in with your affairs?
Share a smoke, make a joke,
grasp and reach for a leg of hope.
Words to memorize, words hypnotize,
words make my mother exercise.
Words all fail the magic prize,
nothing I can say when I am in your thighs.
Oh mo ma ma ma ma mo ma mother
I would love to love you lover.
The city's restless, its ready to pounce.
When I'm in your bedroom ounce for ounce.
I fear for you decisions to make,
things to lose things to take.
Jessie's about ready to cut it up,
she said wait a minute honey gonna add it up.
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
add it up
I got 25

B. Song #4: Count every *female* vocal mention of summer.
I was going to post the lyrics, but it's a back up singer and her part isn't written down. Anyway, it's two.

K. Song #5: Total the days of each year, as if the mention of each counts as a seperate loss. Take into account that there'd be two leap years. Days in bed never count as a loss. Each mention gains you an additional week. All combined, how many days are lost?
Third Eye Blind - Losing a Whole Year
Losing a whole year [+365]
Losing a whole year [+365]
I remember you and me used to spend
The whole goddamned day in bed[-7]
Losing a whole year[+365]
Lying in your room wed lay like dogs
The phone would ring like a joke thats left unsaid
Losing a whole year[+365][+1]
Rich daddy left you with a parachute
Your voice sound like money and your face is cute
But your daddy left you with no love
You touch everything with a velvet glove and
Now you want to try a life of sin
You want to be down with the down and in
Always copping my truths
I kind of get the feeling like Im being used
And now I realize you never heard
One goddamned word I ever said
Losing a whole year[+365]
Losing a whole year[+365]
I took your stuff and put it in the basement
When I found out what the smile on your face meant
Ive seen you pop that check
Craning your neck at my car wreck and
It always seems the juice used to flow
In the car, in the kitchen you were good to go
Now were stuck with the tube
A sink full of dishes and some aqualube
And I remember you and me used to
Spend the whole goddamned day in bed[-7]
Losing a whole year[+365]
And if its not the defense then youre on the attack
When you start talking I hear the prozac
Convinced youve found your place
With the pierced queer teens in cyberspace
When you were yourself it tasted sweet
But it sours into a routine deceit
Well this drama is a bore
And I dont want to play no more
Losing a whole year[+365][+1]
I remember you and me used to
Spend the whole goddamned day in bed[-7]
365*8 (8 years total) + 2 (2 leap years) - 7*3 (3 days spent in bed)
= 2901
If you count the day spent in bed coming out of the years, then it would be....
365*8 (8 years total) + 2 (2 leap years) - 8*3 (3 days spent in bed)
= 2898

Acid, you overlooked one part of the directions for the math on that problem, I think.

EDIT: The lyrics on the site say the last line is another "losing a whole year" but if you listen to the song it doesn't go that way. As confirmed by this lyrics site:
other lyrics site. So my answer still stands.
Wait don't you
gain a week every time it mentions staying in bed?
So it would be +21 not -21.....or am I reading it wrong?

This is how I interpretted it: It's asking for the total days lost. Each time they say "Losing a whole year" it counts as 365 days lost. Every 4 years gains 1 extra day lost due to leap years.
As far as the "Days in bed never count as a loss. Each mention gains you an additional week." I view this as each time for spending a day in bed counts as gaining a week, or 7 days, so it would go against the total number of days lost.
