bethy we are supposed to believe that it is real. thats the whole point of ARGs and their supporting media.itsreallyreal wrote:bethy wrote: No, I got your point, I just completely disagree. i agree with that, espicially in a world where we research as much as we do. i dont know whom else i speak for, but this whole community has changed the way i do almost all my research on the web. i am more adept at finding out about peole, problem solving, all sorts of research methods... i dont know how they could have kept it a secret tho, not with all the awesome web-sleuths ive met in the forums.itsreallyreal wrote: I just say why take the "Realism" out of the story is all... Not that I think this is a bad idea... there are ALLOT of posatives to it... I'm just sayin... You have to KNOW this can change the whole culture of the series.arg, community and even form of media... right?
i just think they could have kept the secret from the press juuuust a bit longer then we would not have found out so fast

Again...though...the LG15 ARG is not a typical ARG. It is associated with the series, but it doesn't solely support it. That's what I meant when I said in the following sentence:
And it has nothing to do with the ARG. I think some of the ARG players are having trouble compartmentalizing the two as separate beings. Yes, they are related and they interact...but they have completely separate lives.

That's what I've been trying to explain...but some of the ARG players are trying to make it all one entity. Look, I follow the ARG as well. When I need the LG15 series to be "real" for the ARG...then it is. But outside of the ARG, the LG15 series still exists on it's own as a piece of fictional entertainment.Kasdeja wrote:LonelyGirl15 is not the ARG.

of course i know it isnt real, im not daft... it is, however, WAY more fun if i pretend it is, as im sure i am not the only one who knows how to do that

I know, I wasn't arguing with you, bethy.
Idunno...this chick that is evidently famous, though I've never seen or heard of her, appearing in one measely video as a NON recurring character just doesn't make me all upset, I guess...

they aren't seperate at all bethy, the order is after bree, opaphid is the voice of the order. where is the seperation??? OpAphid constantly makes remarks of dealing with Bree and Daniel. They are't seperat at all. The OpAphid videos are becoming very important to the LG series. Gemma was a member and associate of the Order and OpAphid, she's dead now. Daniel was jsut featured in Op's new video, and she discusses him, they went and ransacked Bree and Daniels motel room. They aren't seperate anymore. They were for like...two videos. But now, it's all the same.bethy wrote:Killthesmiley wrote:bethy we are supposed to believe that it is real. thats the whole point of ARGs and their supporting media.itsreallyreal wrote:bethy wrote: No, I got your point, I just completely disagree. Yes it is a different type of ARG, but they still need to have that non-reality "reality" feel to it. It's the way you play args. In their case, its a line that is tempting to cross. Not sure if they'll cross it, we'll have to wait to see who and what importance she has to the video. That will determine if they cross that line and break down that 4th wall.

Thing is, though...not everyone is in the ARG. The vast majority are not. So to complain about it in any context doesn't make sense to me. Yes it's fun to pretend it's real, but this just isn't a typical ARG.of course i know it isnt real, im not daft... it is, however, WAY more fun if i pretend it is, as im sure i am not the only one who knows how to do that
Promise!!!???iamcool wrote: if they start doing sucky stuff like this i'm getting off here
Because I'm willing to creat an automated
phone dialer/email writing application to flood the Creators with suggestions for lots and lots of potential cameos
I'll even start a fund to pay them. But you gotta promise you'll go
I would see that argument more if the creators actually had more to do with Oppy...they way I see it, they run parallel and the creators liked their work, made them official and let them in on some info nobody else would know about. I see them as connected but not the same.

if you think about it, the vast majority of the information we have on the order, isn't from bree at all, but OpAphid and Tachyon and Brother.Kasdeja wrote:I would see that argument more if the creators actually had more to do with Oppy...they way I see it, they run parallel and the creators liked their work, made them official and let them in on some info nobody else would know about. The majority of Order related material we have, is from Oppy...
if we were to have just the LG 15 videos, without te information OpAphid and Tachyon gives us, we would be completely and utterly lost in our speculation.

One does not need to be in the ARG to follow the series. Yes, they interact, but the series is not dependent upon the ARG. Yes, I know they are interacting more and more...but it still isn't necesarry to play the ARG to follow the series. It is possible to get the information from the ARG vids to follow the story...like Gemma's dead because she screwed up and her cover was blown. For some of the people, that's all they need to know to explain Gemma's disappearance from the series. They don't need to know the whole Oppy storyline.they aren't seperate at all bethy, the order is after bree, opaphid is the voice of the order. where is the seperation???
Wow, like JayHank, I'm shocked at the craziness of some people here.
What the heck, this is a 100% certifiable Grade A move on behalf of the Creators. After what has been a series of not-so-great ones over the past months, it was extremely refreshing to have something like this happen.
People like Ziola saying "I don't want semi-famous people ruining your show" is incredibly obnoxious. Guess what, it's not YOUR show, it's The Creators. If it's any fan's show, which it's not, it sure isn't going to be yours based on you having signed up at this forum on 17 Oct 2006. That doesn't mean it was the day you became a fan, but presumably if you were a fan for a long time before then you would have gotten on board here a lot sooner. There are a still people hanging around following the series, including me, who was watching LG15 back in July or before, the first month it completely ran through (as it started in June). Someone who jumped on board in October, possibly because of OpAphid?, can hardly claim this for themselves.
As for people like Kasdeja saying I don't even see how she's famous and those who think the Creators should have kept this guest star a secret until it happened... well I think the one billion and counting articles that have appeared in the past few hours because of this should answer both of you. Check google news, lg15 would be mentioned in the odd article every couple of days maybe. Now look at it: http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=u ... &scoring=d
If they had kept this a secret until it happened, do you think it would have gotten such publicity? "McPhee TO guest star on lg15" is a lot more exciting than "oh look, McPhee has guest starred on lg15".
While of course it's all the same article, it shows each place it's being mentioned. There are huge names there including MS-NBC, USA Today, the LA Times, FOX News, Washington Post, and numerous smaller outlets across the US and Canada. There are currently 130 articles and counting. Presumably this article should make it into the print pages tomorrow of at least some of them, if not a lot. I'm not sure, it's hard to say how much of the internet posted news makes the crossover to print, but judging on how liberally this story is circulated I wouldn't be surprised if it does make print too. Meanwhile lots of the American Idol fanatics who are revved up over yesterday's first episode and also a crazy new one tonight as well well likely come across this article just by searching "American Idol" since it's mentioned in the article, if not searching for McPhee herself. And there are of course numerous McPhee fans as well who'll watch.
Meanwhile, what's with all this 4th wall ARG talk about McPhee breaking it? I really don't understand that. In my opinion LG15 is not foremostly an ARG, and frankly is hardly an ARG at all as there is little "gaming" nor "interaction" occuring. For you to claim that suddenly the ARGiness is being challenged by what seems to be a short little cameo is utterly ridiculous. LG needs this to foster excitement and survive.
LG15 is really not an ARG, yet the main complaint I see about this revolves around it's ARG nature. I think there are only a handful of people that actually consider LG15 an ARG and all those people are right here commenting and complaining. The couple other hundred thousand viewers do not care an ounce for whatever this "fourth wall" nonsense you are complaining about being broken.
LG15 has been languishing lately in my opinion, the plot has gotten more and more surrealistic and more and more loose ends seem to be appearing. The McPhee guest spot should really help and is definitely a good move.
