the kids i cared for would sceam REALLY loud and say BUT I WANT IT... i would stop and look at them and go " well i want a million dollars but i can't have it. " so stop complaining. i always say it. hahaha they usualy just get angry and storm off.
it was either that or i would simply relply with.... "thats nice." and go back to what i was doing.

She looks like she could be one of the Silkstone barbies, the 45th anniversary one from 2004.

My friend's little daughter (she's 3) likes to say "no-ah", sorta like with a Valley Girl accent. It drives him crazy, because he and his wife are so different... you know, into being yourself and not conforming and generally not liking what the mainstream likes. And somehow their daughter likes to match her own clothes and be a princess and all that. So the "no-ah" drives him crazy. She's just lately started saying "What-evah!"romanceismusic wrote:my daughter tells me no alot. but she really doesnt know many other words. lol

Just goes to show how influential tv and media and friends are in friends lives. parents can only do SO muchBroken Kid wrote:My friend's little daughter (she's 3) likes to say "no-ah", sorta like with a Valley Girl accent. This is a topic that bugs me. Some kids are what they are...and a parent trying to stop a little one from being a princess is worse, to me, than what people say about the "mainstream"...I thought the purspose was to be who you are, who you want...not what your parents say you are, you want? Parents should let their kids be "mainstream" if that's where they are going. I mean, they are being raised with the knowledge of the parents, so they can look that way and still understand all the parent's reasons for being "individual" or whatever...if any of this makes sense.

I think princess in some forms can mean attitude and children should understand respect. but yes i don't think you should form a child to be like you just because its what you beilive you should teach a child respect, understanding, acceptance and love.Kasdeja wrote:This is a topic that bugs me. They're not trying to stop her or changing her!! It's the valley girl-style "no-ah" and "whatevah" that drives 'em crazy! They're happy to let her be who she wants to be, but it's amusing how they're so non-mainstream and she's turning out the other way. She doesn't even watch that much TV.Kasdeja wrote:This is a topic that bugs me. Exactly my point. If you teach your child and raise your child with those things, you shouldn't care what they dress like, etc.creativebarbie wrote:I think princess in some forms can mean attitude and children should understand respect. but yes i don't think you should form a child to be like you just because its what you beilive you should teach a child respect, understanding, acceptance and love.Kasdeja wrote:This is a topic that bugs me. I'm an artistic person... my parents aren't. They NEVER let me do anything in school for art. I was lucky to get art class i only go to go by convinceing them i could do graphics on computers for a living. i REALLY wanted to do drama but they said that was a waste of a credit. i regret that now because i would love to act.
but i feel like i have no idea what i'm doing
