Post Count and You

Believe it or not (and I'm as shocked as you are), this had nothing to do with CG or Taig. At least, not consciously. The thought that you two might be infiltrating my subconscious is frightening.

No, honestly, I've read a few posts where people talked about post count. In one thread, someone ridiculed another user for having a high post count. In another thread, someone said they were entitled to listen to a different person's opinion based on their post count, so they must know!

A lot of people don't go into the Community sections (Playhouse, OTC, GTKEO), so they're not aware that those sections permit and even may encourage quick, short posts in a chatting format. So I just thought I'd bring it up.

I don't think we'll do away with the ranks, but some have said they should keep going after 5,000. My thought is, those with posts above 5,000 (myself included) generally got there by participating in the Community sections, so ranks above that at this point don't seem necessary.

I like the post count name things. For the simple reason that they are fun. *shrugs* It would be a shame if they went away.

most threads that i ever see that in is doing that in complete laughter ... joke ... ha.... ha type thing.

Honestly, to me, I don't know people who actually take the post count that seriously.
What IS taken into account though is the join date.

Post Count + Join Date

If you joined last week and have beaten me in posts already, I'm going to assume you are crawling in STDs. I judge, I'm 17, it is what I do.

Not to say that Curious George is a rabble rouser, but he has been known to post just to stir things up and get them interesting.

I've always viewed this whole business of rank as something fun to see what comes up next. I know where to find the list, but I've avoided it because I just want to be surprised.

I have been watching since last summer, and had a really horrible time with people in the forum and stopped after some very rude people posted some rude things, forgot my username and password and have now created a new one... but I wanted to put out there, that even though someone joined a week ago - or a day ago - or a year ago - it doesn't mean they aren't ready and watching everything.

no i didn't mean it that if people join like....five minutes ago, that they don't know anything.

What I mean if people are going to be shallow enough to take their side information into consideration, which btw I know not many ppl on this forum are THAT shallow, that their join date is the better piece of evidence then post count.

I don't exactly think the join date is that fair of a basis for judgement either. I waited sooooooo long to join, honestly because the people here scared me.

What I take into judgement is how a poster types and how they act in chat.
