Gemma's accent

Well according to Gemma she's a South African transplant to England.Kasdeja wrote:Sounds more like an NZ accent according to some kiwis on here...
In my opinion her accent is of an American trying to sound British.

It doesn't sound British to me. I figured it was NZ. South Africa also makes sense. There are accents that sound like English, but its not. Not just an American trying to sound English -- that kind of accent is usually not like Gemma's.
Except there was something she said (for a second or 2) that made me wonder if she was really American.

it's 100% NOT english! It's an awful fake british/kiwi accent with an american twang that americans find really difficult concealing.. Not having a dig by the way, only really good actors can fake a British accent successfully. Hell I've lived here all my life, when I go to America I get mistake for an ozzie..
I know it's only a story. but still.

Her accent..
Is very dodgy in parts, lol!!
Oh well, nice try.

She's allowed to have a bad accent because "it's South African". Apparently South African accents tend to sound American with half the words said, something I never knew until Gemma.

Haha.
You crack me up.
I realise some of you are saying the accent is a mix.
And I have not heard it for myself yet.. (Waiting for wednsday for my Broadband to come back).
But that some of you are saying that Kiwi and English accents are similar?
Or.. that South African and Kiwi Accents sound similar.. and either could fly as a mix of her english accent.
Haha.
Priceless.
Also. Its good to hear its a S.A mix, because if all the crazy cult people came from NZ I would be slightly worried.

Gemma has revealed her backstory and there is no kiwi in it anywhere. Any resemblence to a kiwi accent is mere coincidence.
She's just a South African with a (some say) kiwi-American accent.

What is kiwi?
I checked in here to make sureno body said "american trying to sound english" because that is DEFINATELY NOT an American trying to sound English.
English people don't sound like that.
Americans TRYING to sound English don't sound like that either!
My guess was New Zealand. Then I was left baffled because half the things she says sounds American.
I guess she's fixing her accent. When I came to American, half the things I said sounded Australian until I finally sound like an American (a sad thing, too! XD).

AMERICANS TRYING TO FAKE AN ENGLISH ACCENT DO NOT SOUND LIKE THAT.
They fail miserably and its not even CLOSE to Gemma's. Americans are more consistent with their fake accents, as well and sometimes trial off into an Australian twang.
Gemma is not an American faking English accent.
THE END.
