350,000 "users" may not be accurate but 350,000 main page refreshes wouldn't surprise me. That's where most people were trying to log-in over and over again.

Methinks if 300,000 were coming to this site during chat time, they were coming to the chat.
The chat had about 500-600 combined at a given time. Now of course there was a lot of turnover, one could be generous and pump that number up to a total of maybe even 2000 people. 3000 even. But 300,000? Why weren't they all, or at least mostly, in the chat then? What is the normal traffic load for that given time on a regular Tuesday night?

This was a Tuesday Night Party indeed- but that number seems high. Those MUST have been non-unique hits, because I know that I along with many others reloaded a great deal of times trying to get the webpage to load and work.

It wasn't successful from where i was (bree's house 1 at 1.30 till 3 in the morning)

Also I was told by an admin that you were only expecting 120 ppl for the chat? bit of an underestimation lol

Anyway thanks for trying guys seriously, I'm just sorry to hear things got so stressed for all of you, apparantly you only had a day to prepare?

Anyway no hard feelings.... as long as I get to ask bree a question next time

how about a seperate chat at a different time for us english and europeans? it was quite frustrating staying up so late and not getting involved in this 'NEW entertainment experience'. I think a gemma chat would also be good for us as we could have that at a relative time to our time zone, and get involved a bit more!

There were many people refreshing the main page thinking that was where they needed to log-in to the chat. I had my girl log-in and post directions to the UserPlane chat a few different times to send everyone to the right location and still they did not understand. Just kept hitting that main page over and over again.

I have to add that the administrators of the various chat rooms were extremely unprofessional.

In my chat room, the administrator would type in ALLCAPS that everyone needed to stop posting. But, since dozens of people were coming in and out of the chatroom, it was always new people being yelled at.

A lot of the clutter in my chat room was the YELLING administrators. Eventually, the administrators refused to relay the chat because too many people were posting, and the administrators just yelled at the disappointed fans.

Of course, the yelling did nothing, because the people who were talking were the people just entering the room.

The administrators were not yelling, just going along with our suggestion in chat that they post in ALL CAPS underlined so that the rest of us could distinguish the admins from all the other crap that was being said.

We asked that they do this, they politely obliged.

We are beta testing a NEW entertainment experience and a NEW way of telling a story, and unfortunately we underestimated the volume of viewers who wanted to participate. Over 350,000 of you visited our site during the chat. Though we had a solution in place for handling a large number of participants, last minute technical difficulties forced us to resort to less than optimal methods. In the future (and their will be future chats) we will be ready for the load, and the conversations will be easier to follow.

Thank you for your support while we work out the kinks.

With greatest appreciation,

The Lonelygirl15 Production Team
Though I admit I was frustrated (more so because I skipped making dinner and hadn't slept in 27 hours) I still think you're great Dark Wing Duck! Keep it up :)

It was disappointing, but this is a work in progress, the creators are not a big corporate entity with a unlimited budget they are just three guys with a small cast and crew trying to bring us a new and interesting form of entertainment..

They tried something new and with anything that is tried for the first time there were problems.

I enjoyed it anyway, even though I only got into the room where the characters were in time to see them sign off.

I didn't see that request. If that's the case I retract that part of the complaint.

But regardless, the administrators were telling people to shut up, the administrators refused to relay the chat, and the administrators cluttered the chat more than anyone by shouting the same useless message over and over and over and over.

And look, this wasn't some wild and amazing new foray into interactive entertainment. Lots of shows have done chats with fans before. A 5-minute Google search could have uncovered ways to prevent tonight's disaster from happening. Do the creators honestly believe that nobody ever thought to do a chat with fans before? Or are they just too lazy to go to Google.com and do a tiny amount of research to see that it gets done right? Or why not just ask the fans, hundreds of whom predicted that this is exactly what would happen?

To Our Amazing and Understanding Fans,

Thanks for participating in the FIRST of many LG15 interactive chats. Obviously this was a very very ALPHA test. We were completely blown away by how many people showed up… our traffic on the server spiked over 350,000. Clearly we need multiple servers and load balancing.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to launch our custom chat software. We’ll have that out soon and it should make things MUCH easier and more organized next time around.

For those of you that are upset, we apologize but all in all we think this went very well for doing something for the very first time with a budget of literally $0 (yes, we are still bleeding money from our savings accounts) and with a team of less than a dozen people spread around the country and working for free.

We can promise you that every week, your experience on the website and with the show will improve. We’re so excited that you are taking this journey with us. We are literally brimming over after seeing how many people joined in on the chat. It’s gonna be such a cool part of the plot as we move forward.

We will post a transcript in the forum (probably summarized). And, of course, we are ALWAYS open to your suggestions for how to make things better.

Thank you so much.

Fifteen minutes before the chat began, we finally had to accept that our planned chat solution would not be operational in time. The only thing we had at our immediate disposal was the Userplane chat, which had major shortcomings that we were well aware of, but we went ahead with the chat anyway believing some semblance of a chat could happen. The 100 person limit per room (except for the last room which seems to take the overflow) and no option to give a voice to select people made the chat terribly unwieldy. How it went down, is NOT how it was supposed to be.

The new chat system will be running soon. It will become the official chat service of the site, replacing Userplane. The next time a live character chat happens, we will be ready for it. We're sorry for the difficulties of our first attempt.

come on guys, people were refreshing the main page like mad looking for the chat link as promised. that's where most of the views came from. the vid where bree announces the chat doesn't even have 350,000 views yet.

celebrity chat has been around a long time, its not anything new, though it was new and much anticipated for lg15. since anybody could post we got things like this (if you were one of the few who could make it in the room, which most couldn't):

lordgreystoke422: Bree...I spoke with Jonas the other night..a guy that likes Orange slurpees cant be too bad

fliptopbox (guest): You know which part a dog loves to have scratched most? Give up? It's the BRISKET!

lodaho (guest): I poop in your mouth!

dudeman (guest): he has his penis in mind

thank you..

Tw, Jd, all admins who were going bananas and coped incredibly.

bad side - um, well, you've seen how many viewers come out of the woodwork at the last minute.

which means you all are rockin the house. bad for now but now that you know the TRUE scope of the fandom, lol... who knows what tomorrow brings!

request -

hit the video page first w/ instructions.. ie, request 'don't post for 10 minutes', whatever is needed - you'll stand a better overall chance, I'm thinking.

but again.. thank you.
