I have this for my dog.. I had actually thought of the same thing a while ago..
The only thing is you can feel the device, so wouldn't Bree notice?
unless they put it deeper than it's intended to be...

What if the tracking device isn't in their car, as the video suggested, but rather implanted into Bree's arm during one of her injections?
Human implantable microchips can be implanted through the arm or hip with a syringe-like device, and are apparently painless.
I found this link which gives a little information about the chips, with a few pictures:

You never know!!! Perhaps ditching the car is not such a good idea after all....
I'm not crazy about the idea, but at the same time it might explain why Gemma (assuming she's trying to be helpful and the Watchers are bad) told Bree to get in the pool. I don't think the GPS signal travels underwater... you need something more. Although, since Bree and the stuffies are interchangable Gemma could've been hinting that it's the puppets that need a drowning.

but if gemma knows about the chip, then wouldn't that mean she probably has something to do with it? and if she has something to do with it, why would she tell her to get in the water.
i really hope the whole traceable chip theory is wrong though. that would be boooring.

Um, I'm pretty sure you can't track microchips long distance. My cat is microchipped, and you have to run a scanner over the animal directly; you can't use the RFID chip to find your lost cat.
I think a tracking device needs a power source (battery) in order to run its GPS and, more importantly, to broadcast its information, and batteries are heavy. Let's say the device is about the size of an iPod shuffle? Such a thing would be impossible to hide in P. Monkey, although Owen and Thor seem possible. If it broadcast continuously the batteries would soon wear out, so it seems likely it would just broadcast one or twice a day and thus might last a couple weeks.
Also, I doubt such a device would not be waterproof. No reason to think of that it could not be.
Using reality as a guide, a tracking device in the car is much much more plausible. The technology is common (OnStar, LoJack) and it can be extremely hard to find (the wiring harness in a car goes too many places).
That said, I do recognize that the LG15 story is fiction... so really, speculate away!

i think you read wrong. the person i was replying to said GPS doesn't work in the water for some reason and that might be the reason gemma told her to go in the pool. but i said that wouldn't make sense because if gemma knew bree had some sort of tracking device, she wouldn't have a reason to not want her to be tracked.

or gemma could have just experienced it in the past, or she could have just had an inkling like everyone else on the boards have had.. and wanted bree to make sure of it.

Oh, yes, sorry, I didn't read carefully. I confused this idea with others I've read where people assumed that dunking the puppet would short out any tracking device. I know that the GPS signals are fairly fragile, so certainly possible that you can't get them at the bottom of a pool...

A small injectable device would not be GPS capable or be able to transmit data over more than a few hundred meters. The implantable devices use something called RFID. They do not have a power supply. They are powered by microwaves beamed from the receiver.
You could get a GPS device hidden in a stuffed animal to phone home, but it would have a limited lifetime. You could extend the battery life if you had the device turn its self on once a day, look up its location phone home, then go back to sleep.
A device hidden in a car can last as long as the car has power. some commercial devices will let a user cut power to the starter of a car so once it stops it can't be re started. Other devices not available to the public could slowly turn off power to the fuel pump so your car slows down, then stalls out.

what if they get robbed again, p monkey disappears, and opaphid posts videos from p monkey's perspective of bree talking to her (because there was a tiny hidden camera somewhere on p monkey)? i'm not saying i expect that to happen at all, but boy would it be satisfying.

There has also been some speculation that some kind of tracking device was implanted in Bree's brain at too early an age for her to remember.

The plushies could be ditched a lot more easily than Daniel's car -- and now they've gotten rid of his car. If they're just relying on bugs in the toys at this point (especially with Daniel ready to strangle the things), they made a huge tactical error.
I think that her talks with Lucy let the Order know how important these dolls were to her. And with the removal of her parents, they would be able to reasonably guess that she wouldn't be able to leave her house without the things that made her feel comfortable, namely her "friends." And Lucy encouraging that (which many of us thought was wierd at the time) was kind of implanting into her head that it's not bizarre to want them around you all the time.
Daniel knows that the toys have been there even when he wasn't, and probably wouldn't be able to seperate her from them even if he wanted to. Especially not without a good reason. Which he just may have if they continue to be able to track them now that they have little else besides their bags of clothes and the toys.
I think Bree dumping the stuffies will be a turning point.....it will show maturity. She has to leave them.
I had the same Idea

In the first video that i posted on. I had mentioned something about that!!! I'm so glad to find someone else that had that thought.

highly doubt its in bree. back then they didnt know she would be running away, and they did the injections, like, weekly. i don't think locating devices die out in a week and need to be replaced.
I agree that the toys are a problem and they are really pretty well set up so that she doesnt lose them... I mean remember her vids they Lucy told her it was ok to have the stuffd animals....But I think it is penis monkey who is the traitorous spy..... and you stole my bum bum music....now how are my comments supposed to be scary???? boop boop booooooppp just doesnt work.............

I recently watched an episode of... I think Law and Order. Might have been CSI. A woman's husband injected a tiny tracking device into her arm while she was passed out from a drug he had slipped into her drink. It didn't need a battery, because it was like an animal's microchip, with a barcode type thing. He placed a small scanner inside the burglar alarm boxes (roughly arm level) at key points - the studio she worked at with the man he suspected she was cheating on him with, the man's home, and their own home. Then he could retrieve a log of when she entered and left these places, so he could analyze her moves, and know if she wasn't where she said she was going to be. This wouldn't be quite as effective as a GPS tracking device, but it's not too farfetched to say that there might be something like this in Bree, and some kind of alarm to alert the order if she enters her or Daniel's home, or other key places.
