When I was little my mom let me help pick out my brother's name before he was born....and that is why the name on his birth certificate is actually "Joey" and not Joseph....Alot of people don't believe him when he says that Joey isn't short for anything.....twelfthofnever wrote:I know a pretty good amount of people who actually named their kids what they intended to call them. Thus, I know a few legal "Chris," "Tim," and "Allie"'s. "Tony" and coincidentally "Bree" is also very common.sororyzbl wrote:maybe maybe, but If you're analyzing names, I'd suggest looking for the most general, then the specific. generally, people who go by "bree" are not given that name. How many people do you know who have the name "Tony" on their birth certificate?Lurker wrote: It doesn't necessarily have to be short for anything. "Bree" might be her full first name.

I've been doing some more random research realting to names, and I tried an anagram server. Nothing really worked. There was only one interesting thing, and that was the "Order of Denderah" is an exact anagram of "A Defended Horror". Interesting, huh? I have no idea if this is a coincidence or not, but, still. It's cool. I'm going to go and surf around some more.

I would have to look for the message but months ago I messaged LonelyGirl15 on YouTube (or maybe it was Jess's myspace?) and asked her if Bree was short for anything, and she said she didn't know but she would ask the directors. She never got back to me, but I was just curious back then because my name is Bri
Short for Briana.
Names that can be shortened to Bri/Bree: Brittney, Gabriel, Briana, Sabrina, Bria, Britta.
Hope that helps!

That's interesting, given all the speculation that Bree is some kind of chosen one.imogene2004 wrote:I looked up Bree on behindthename.com and this is what I got:
BREE Irish
Anglicized form of BRÍGH

BRÍGH
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Irish
Pronounced: BREE [key]
Derived from Irish brígh meaning "power, high".
The fact that both the boys in this have very... Biblical names also struck me as interesting. I wonder if there's any parallels there.

OT a bit...my older son picked out my younger son's name by accident. He was 6 and I'd just turned on the computer and he said "Logan?" and I looked and it said "LogOn".....but I liked the name so much we used it.When I was little my mom let me help pick out my brother's name before he was born....and that is why the name on his birth certificate is actually "Joey" and not Joseph....Alot of people don't believe him when he says that Joey isn't short for anything.....

I thought the exact same thing. I looked around to try to find if there was a place in the Bible where Jonah and Daniel were mentioned together or something, but I couldn't find anything. I wonder if they made them very Biblical names on purpose? Is there a connection between the Jonah and Daniel in the Bible and the Jonas and Daniel in the Breeniverse? hmm...cynicar wrote:That's interesting, given all the speculation that Bree is some kind of chosen one.imogene2004 wrote:I looked up Bree on behindthename.com and this is what I got:

Well, Jonah is from" Jonah and the Whale." He's selected by God to go and preach to this one town, gets cold feet, and choses to try to go somewhere else. So when he's on this boat, God causes a storm and Jonah tells the crew to throw him overboard to ensure the saftey of their ship. So they do and Jonah gets swallowed by a whale and is spat up three days later after he's repented. Apparently, digestive juices help with this sort of thing.
Daniel is one of the old testament writers and is considered a prophet by the Christian tradition, but not by Judaism. This is according to wikipedia anyways.
Maybe it points to their roles in the story? Daniel as a revealer of things (seems to fit so far) and Jonah... getting eaten? Maybe he'll betray them and repent?

Well, the word has connotations that I guess don't quite fit. Do you know what I mean though? Deviating from the course you promised to go on. Does that work?senoritablanca wrote:
