On the outside chance that this theory had any validity, I lined up the decoder with the "u" and the "l" and all I got was garbage.

Is this supposed to be the final answer? Because I can't make heads nor tails out of it. Neither decode from hex to anything...not sure what else to try

It seems to me that the x line needs to be decoded (where are the code people) using 112 as the key.

from Steps 2 and 4, or the 1-9 and A-F set. Also, we don't know which one is the encoded set and which is the decoder set. Nor do we know how the two sets match up.

The XX Xy puzzles are hex. There is no way that the Cx6t etc. stuff can make hex. Simply put, they use characters that hex doesn't. Hex uses 0-9 and A-F. Plus, the X's aren't decoded by Y's, which is how the profile reads.

Sorry, what I MEANT is that this is from an XX XY puzzle...that is, 1 1 2 rather than 112 with original wheel.

This clue told us that what we wanted to do was link Step 1 and Step 2, which meant that we needed to use not only the uppercase letter/number from the Step 1 movie list, but also the lowercase letter from the Step 2 list of situations. This gives us:

I personally disagree with this assesment. I believe that Tach's clue is telling us NOT to use the l-z letters for our decoder ring. We compared the lower case letters (which were the scenes/parts of the movies and lovelines - and their corresponding times). From this comparison (time, earliest to latest w/sparing hours), we are able to figure out how to "HANDLE" the uppercase letters. We are using the clues to ORDER the UPPERCASE letters. That is what I have gotten from Tach's clue.

So, I believe the correct order should be:

Movies: C64FB2835D7A91E
Loveline: C2D61A5EF4793B8

This IMO makes a lot more sense for the decoder ring, because the answer is now hexable, since we are using only 0-9, and A-F.

and with Tachyon's latest profile update, what if it is a cipher of some sort? so 112 would be the password in terms of wheel placement, or is that the E part?

didn't she use a V. Cipher in two previous puzzles?

EDIT - Tilt, i have no idea what to make of the 6B36676B38B2B2E03EE03AE033 clue, nor how we are supposed to use the ring cypher. Due to the fact that I was so confused, I went to double check some of the steps, and saw what i mentioned up there ^, so just thought i'd put in my two cents. Maybe it'll help some of the smart people around here figure out the ring decoder.[/img]
