He said that his parents would rather be numb than deal with life:
"It's like they were both self-medicating. Unless they were numb, life was just...too much to deal with."
The following line:
"Given our situation, I can kinda understand why a person would find that preferable."
By that he meant the situation he is in with Bree and Jonas makes him understand how someone would want to be numb to things.
I just rewatched the video. Thanks for the clarification!

Well, I think it would make sense if Bree's dad told her some stuff she's not supposed to know and Daniel spilled it to the order. As long as they think Bree is still pretty naive about it all, she has the upperhand.
There was never any indication that Bree's father did anything to go against the order until after the incident whre daniel was upset about her not wanting to talk about her religion. It still makes no sense.

Alcohol messes with you. Everyone knows it.
I still think he was under the influence of something much stronger than alcohol. Unless his soda had rum in it, he probably wasn't drunk for like a week straight.
PS - I meant that I was hoping he would tell us what he learned while he was with the Order. What he heard and saw. Etc. None of that is related to his alcoholism.
I don't think she's trying to say Daniel was drunk for a week. Rather, he's under Oppy's influence (mind control, brainwashing, hypnosis - whatever) and similar to The Manchurian Candidate, something triggers his behavior - possibly the alchohol.
Now his memory is wiped clean - so we may never know what went on.
Right, and this is what bothers me. I thought we would get answers with the return of Daniel. All we get is a sappy video like "gosh, this is all my parents fault, but now i kind of understand why they wanted to drink." I really never looked at alcohol as taking a large role in this situation. The Order is powerful, and they would have taken him drunk, sober, whatever. This isn't a time to be making videos about his family life.
Also, hypnosis may be possible, if the Creators are going to use the typical hollywood version. Realistically, hypnosis would never control Daniel in the way we have been shown he was.
IMO, it is far more likely that drugs were involved in Daniel's condition during "Miss Me?" Looking back, drugs seems to be a prevalant tool of control for the Order. Epogen, Iron Pills, etc.
However, what I find most interesting is that Daniel says he doesn't remember anything up until the flashbang. That means he would still be in that comatose state had Tachyon not set off the flashbang. Under what condition would a bright light and large bang suddenly snap you back to life?
This leads me back to wondering. The hollywood-ized form of hypnosis comes to mind here. But I'm not sure. Realistically, I think it was drugs. But a flashbang can't instantaneously remove the effect of drugs.. as far as I know. Hmmm.. any thoughts?

The only thing I can think of would be that the flash bang producing a blinding flash. If he was spin programmed with colors and imagery, with the combination of the drugs, that might be how that Miss Me video was formed. He could have still been programmed until the blinding flash...that might have snapped him out of it.

I thought of something...that may or may not be something...anyway. The mysterious note her parents left...didn't it tell her to stay with Daniel?

It makes you wonder
1) Why is Daniel so safe?
or
2) Does this mean Daniel is evil?

Exactly...Gah...now I'm anxiously wanting a new video, haha.

Okay, so my thoughts on the video:
a) Daniel's thoughts were erased because the Order did not want Daniel to remeber anything of his stay, obviously. I like the Manchurian Candidate theory (the Frank Sinatra version was the best!) But I think it could also be a medically induced amnesia.
b) Does anyone find it odd that the first thing Daniel remembers is Bree yelling "RUN!" Not the elevator ride, and NOT bree whispering into his ear?
- Could Tachyon have guess the trigger word and told Bree how to reverse it? Hence Daniel didn't hear Bree whisper because he was still in his altered state.
- Did Bree tell Daniel something really important (to him, like "i love you") that he is too embarassed/cautious to admit on camera?

I don't think its strange that he things he only remembers so much after the flashbang. From what I can tell, a flashbang can leave you with a very bad headache.
I was once in an accident where I hit my head and got a concusion. I didn't remember the accident, I didn't remember riding in a ambulance...I only remember 'waking up' in the hospital room hours later...although everyone said that I had been awake and had even been talking during the ride to the hospital and everything.
