I'm actually convinced that the lightswitch is a clue that we're supposed to examine the luminosity to these characters. Bree is being dimmed by the oppression of her religious cult and her parental upbringing. Daniel is attempting to spark the light of realization and recognition in Bree by exposing the truth (and not hiding it in the dark). Plus, he's trying to turn her on.

-what model number or series is the switch?
-where did they buy it?
-who installed it?
-which light does it turns off and on, and that bulb, how many watts?

OK I have a feeling this is going to be a long one so bear with me.

I dont know how many of you out there are a member of a secret society. If you are its no secret that they exist. Whether it be TKE, ZTA, the Masons or the Skulls. The principle is the same: You dont F-c-ing talk about it to ANYBODY EVER.

If youre a member of one of those groups that swears harm to anyone who threatens that covenant then you also understand that you dont let anyone in unless they fully understand the responsibility of it. Otherwise you would have been exposed YEARS ago.

Bree cant play both sides of this fence. Either she knew that this was a huge secret to keep (and its "kept secret for a reason!" I would LOVE to hear her say why, because Ill bet money Bree doesnt know) or she didnt understand how serious this was when she started.

If she knew before hand then we would have never heard about it in the first place. Or she didnt know and they wouldnt have ever let someone who wasnt ready in. Either way this last video is ridiculous.

Ill even answer my own question. The reason something is kept a secret is so no one finds out or goes snooping around. If Bree is truly a member of the upper order of this organization then she would be punished equally as severely as Daniel for violating that trust. She should be just as concerned for her own safety as she is for his. ANYTHING he (or we) know we learned because she told us all about it.

I would venture to say that far more people of middle and lower incomes practice magic than rich people, simply for the fact that there are far more people in those income ranges. Wiccans, pagans and other practitioners of magic tend to be your average person next door, and the spells they cast may be for very mundane things or more esoteric aims. After all, the life concerns of those who practice magic are not very different than the life concerns of those who don't; paying the bills, the health of our family, finding love, healing a broken heart, etc.

I think it's safe to say that people from all walks of life subscribe to all sorts of different belief systems and perform all manner of magick, rituals, ceremonies, what-have-you. Anytime you try to fit something into categories like this you always leave SOMEBODY out. Stereotypes have their place, but they can only take you so far when you move from hypothetical discussions to the real world.

If the society was so secret then why would they invite daniel to tape brees play thingy? the only way that could make sense is if that was for bree's parent's religion and the order is some kind of offshoot.

You can name a few famous people who are reputed to have practiced magid, but for every one of them, there are hundreds of unknown everyday people who practice magic.

Exactly!! it cant be all laid back about video a month ago and now be a life and death situation. What parents would let their daugher be taken into the woods unsupervised without some idea of what was going on. They encouraged her and helped her study/prepare for it. The have an understanding of what she is a part of.

Blah, as I mentioned before, I'm a member of a "Secret Society" from college, and there was nothing bizarre or crazy about the rituals. Certainly the membership would do nothing to harm me if I ran around telling the banal secrets of the organization. I keep the secrets because I made an oath on my honor that I would keep them; nothing binds me to silence but my own sense of right.

I recall when I was a kid, I found a book on Masonry amongst my deceased grandfather's belongings. "Cool!" I thought, "Arcane and powerful rituals!" I hauled out the big, leatherbound book and proceeded to read, hoping to find mysterious incantations, etc. I hate to tell you, but it was composed, just as my later fraternity experience, of really fairly banal rituals. I was quite disappointed. And Masons have divulged the secrets of the Masonic order; you probably haven't heard of it because it's so, well....boring. There was a case of a Mason being kidnapped and murdered by fellow Masons back in the early 1800's here in the US, after he threatened to write a "tell-all" book. That incident broke the back of the strong Masonic movement in the country, and it has never regained its place of prominence in American society.

Thank you! Another great point. And these societies make BIG FRICKIN deal about keeping a secret. If there really was an order that would actually hurt someone for finding out its secrets you can be sure they would be alot more careful then the masons were. and alot more serious about it then the greek organiziations. If you want to keep a secret who is the absolute last person you tell? A (sixteen year old) girl.

It is exactly this contradiction that proves my point. The "secret order" in this little melodrama has already proven itself to be too silly for me to be scared.

Well, my point was that people are projecting the fictional secret society into "real life" secret societies. Secret societies are great fun in fiction, with all the mystery, power, and mysticism that they can connote. Real life however, is far more mundane than fiction, and for the most part secret societies are far more mundane than they would have you believe. Winston Churchill once said, "The chances of a secret being divulged are proportional to the square of the number of people who know it"; heck people love to hatch conspiracy theories about the government--yet look how quickly the Pentagon Papers and Watergate got out, despite the full powers of the Executive Branch being bent to cover them up. Enjoy the fictional secret society of the LG15 videos, but please don't believe that there are terribly many secret societies (save perhaps the Mob ) that will kill their members to protect their secrets.

If it's a big enough, shocking enough secret, eventually someone will go public. If it's terribly boring, mundane, and not worth millions in book deals, nobody will bother revealing the secrets.

Thanks so much for that, I agree completely. I've always said that the Christian Churches would be better off, instead of telling people to avoid witchcraft and astrology and other occult studies, to encourage them to delve into it, because by the end of one chapter people would be so bored out of their skulls they wouldn't want to delve any deeper into any occult religion. Or, if they did go deeper anyway, they'd be disappointed by the "secrets" that are held deeper into it.

I had to study certain pagan and occult religions in college, and that went from being the most intriguing, exciting prospect in any of my classes to being the most dreaded, mundane, and sometimes mind-numbingly boring work to complete.

As far as the LG15 thing goes, though, I think they have to alter reality and make Bree's religion what people expect a "secret" religion to be like, replete with shocking mind-control, abuse, and crimes.

I don't understand how anyone will find it interesting for Bree's religion just to be OK and that Daniel is overreacting, although some people claim this is what they hope to see from this series.
