0140-How Dumb Am I? [2-26-07]

Or maybe, if that meaning is correct, it was his parent's...since they are mysteriously gone. Maybe Jonas was a babysitter...but he got feelings for the two kids and is defecting...it's so hard to say...maybe he's just bad.

Own thoughts:
Maybe Jonas has no idea this artwork exists. Maybe his parents did belong with The Order, and now he'll begin finding out what really happened to them, following his own clues.
improbable but possible.
plus it means he'll be so much into fighting The Order.
I also liked trainer's theory - about different kinds of watchers... 3-legged-symbol means watching from afar, while a 2-legged-symbol means watching closely. awesome. I'll go with that guess.
either way, I find it hard to believe Jonas is bad, 'cause that'll do no good to the plot. we've been through that with Gemma, and no one'd like to see B&D on the run again, homeless. or would you?

Maybe it's Daniel's. He's the one who was brainwashed and remembers nothing. He's the only guy I know who takes 15 minutes to piss. He's the one mad at Jonas.
And I'm sure that Jonas is related to this whole mess in some capacity. It might come out that he suspected his parents were taken by the order but didn't want to tell bree/daniel that because he didn't want to scare them off into thinking he was involved.
The odds of him being a good samaritan to THIS extent are just astronomical at this point. But just because he has his own unspoken motives or backstory in this doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad guy or that he's against bree.

I think it could be Jonas' parents...or even JOnas'...without having to rehash the Gemma storyline. I don't see much connection there, anyway. It's not like Bree ever got close or trusted Gemma...

I love this theory!!!!!
that would be an awesome plot line and it would make a lot of sense.
Yeah...a LOT Of people have been saying that he's what Op would refer to as a "babysitter".kjones wrote:raindown wrote:Own thoughts:

Thanks. Interesting. I always did think it looked a lot like the Watcher symbol (though we never really got a good look at it). I wonder if it really is. Bree didn't confirm anything more than the presence of a strange birthmark... but she seemed a little too defensive at the idea of it being the Watcher symbol too. Guess there's a pretty good chance.autumneternal wrote:Bree confirmed at one point that she did, indeed, have a strange birthmark on her back that she didn't like when someone asked her about it. I'll see if I can't find the post for you, (if I do, I'll just edit this post with the link).Lurker wrote:Was it ever concretely established that it's really there?autumneternal wrote:If we're going to argue that certain symbols automatically place someone with the Order, then we can't forget the Watcher birthmark on Bree's back.

I agree she was ambiguous at times, but not on that occasion. She was talking about two different things when she said that (doing the ceremony and trusting her).longlostposter wrote:The most compelling argument to me is how similiar Gemma and Jonas seem to be. If you remember, Gemma was very ambigious in her videos. In one video she told Bree that, "It wasn't her choice", and then she turned around and said, "It's your choice", in the exact same video.
She was certainly ambiguous about what she thought they should be doing, though ("Keep moving, don't go to the police, there's a watcher after me but not really -- wait, just go back home").
I agree. It had to be one way or the other, and someone would call it "predictable" either way.longlostposter wrote:A lot of people are saying that this was too predictable (Jonas being bad), and saying they want a real twist. I don't think this is fair, we have to be patient. Maybe this is a build-up to some other twist. Anyway, Jonas had to be either on Bree's side or not, and either was predictable, so it wouldn't have been possible for the Creators to please you all.
Really, the best middle ground would be that he really is connected to OpAphid but actually does want to help B&D.
Someone did do that earlier in the thread. No one responded to it but me, I think. I said that it doesn't make sense because OpAphid would know if Jonas was one of her own operatives or if they were just acting. She's not going to have a lapse in memory about who is or isn't working for her and who she did or did not dispatch to live with B&D for months.kageyuki wrote:I'm mildly surprised that I hadn't heard anyone call out that this was a ploy or a tactic being used by Bree to flush out The Order.
Presumably she used "babysitter" to refer to Watchers in general. We know the one Tachyon killed wasn't someone she hung out with for weeks (unlike Gemma with Brother, or Jonas with B&D).Kasdeja wrote:Yeah...a LOT Of people have been saying that he's what Op would refer to as a "babysitter".kjones wrote:raindown wrote:Own thoughts:

There are other theories on Babysitter, though. That's what I'msaying. More hands on, not just watching. Hence, different symbol...different faction...different duties.

I still don't think however, that theres gonna be a BLACK/or/WHITE area here. Hes not gonna be GOOD/or/BAD. I think its gonna be a bit more complicated than that. *shrug*

What I dont understand, is that if Jonas is with the Order, then obviously the order know their exact location, so they can just go bust in.
This probably explains why Jonas was using his cell phone, giving updates and stuff.
Sorry if someones already said this :S
Btw: If anyone has the song at hand, go listen to 'Keane - This is the Last time'.
In the bakground there are some wierd noises that sound EXTREMLY similar to the noises at the beginning of OpAphids video's, maybe someone else with the song could listen and see if they think so?
